Who would you cast in a GC movie?

Once upon a time I remember a discussion about what actors we'd want to play the characters if there were a hypothetical movie.
However, I can't seem to find it!
Anyways, I think we might be overdue for a new one- there have been a lot of new characters introduced since then.
These are my picks:

-Chloe Moretz as Antimony
Sometimes I forget they're so young! I think Dakota Fanning looks more like Annie, but Chloe is a better actress. AnnaSophia Robb would be good too but seems a little too old.
-Lina Leandersson as Katerina
(This is Eli from Let the Right One In) I don't know what to say, she is perfect in my opinion.
-Craig Roberts as Jack
He's a little old, but he has a young face. The bags under his eyes are perfect. (I imagine Jack always has bags under his eyes, but they got extremely dark during the Spring Heeled arc.) Actually, now that I'm thinking about it he might be better as Andrew Smith.
-Frank Dillane as Jack?
was the other actor I considered. I think he's creepier (he played Tom Riddle), but doesn't quite look the part.
-Saoirse Ronan as Janet
She doesn't seem quite as bold and fiery and Janet. All well, it is acting.
-Hailee Steinfeld as Parley
I don't know about this one, someone else could come up with a better one I'm sure.
-Abigail Breslin as that crazy red haired fairy.
-Lee Pace as Eglamore
He has always been my mental image of Eglamore. I think his turn as a stuntman in The Fall is what makes me picture him!
-Charlize Theron as Jones
My original pick was January Jones (the lure of making a cheesy joke about names was hard to pass up).
-Ty Burrell as Mr. Donlan
-Bryce Dallas Howard as Surma
-Emma Stone as Young Surma
She's more what I imagined Surma looking like, but she's too young. My other consideration for young Surma was Lily Cole.

Thinking of good young actors and actresses is quite challenging! There are still so many characters I haven't done or better fits, what do you guys think?

I reckon it would be done better in CGI (like Avatar) so the characters would look right by design.

How else would you do Coyote or Ysengrin, never mind Lindsey?

...Muppets. We'll get the Jim Henson studio in here. It will look like Labyrinth. (I... I love muppets.)

(Just my personal preferences for an non-existent movie, of course. : D )

I have to agree, Leandersson would be a perfect Kat (assuming she does the character right), but she looks way too old to play her until later in the comic (as in, the current year) in my opinion.

Seems like many of those are good choices. I don't know all of those actors, though.
.. On the other hand, Chloe as Annie? She's not Annie-like at all..

And notacat, I wouldn't mind Coyote or Ysengrin or the robots beeing CGI-made, but I think the human characters (and also those mostly human) should be played by humans.

I think it should either be traditionally animated, or should use use a lot of CG and greenscreens so that it looks like a live-action cartoon (à la Speed Racer or 300).

This. Gunnerkrigg is awesome in part because of its manipulation of the comic book medium. Tom distorts panels, changes tone, and distorts proportions to achieve an accurate representation of his character's emotion.

If you did a traditional "actors and CGI" mix, you'd lose a lot of the energy from certain scenes. Look at the battle between Jones and Eggers, or coyote's appearances, or the ether sequences. How would any of those translate into cgi without losing a lot of their energy and potency.

I mean, it probably could be done, if you got someone like Tim Burton or whatever on board.

Nonetheless, I think that traditional animation is the way to go here. I'd mention Hayao Mizaki or somebody like that if I didn't think that they'd mess with the story.

Heck, I almost DON'T want to see a movie of this, when I think about how much the story and symbolism would get slaughtered.

My humble opinions-

-Tim Burton is not allowed to touch this hypothetical movie, EVER.
-As much as it probably sounded like a joke, my vote (not that it matters) is still for heavy special effects makeup, puppets, and animatronics, with a little bit of cgi thrown in if necessary. For reference, that's the way Guillermo del Toro does his creatures.

Nicer Atom- Thanks! I was just assuming that for time's sake they would make everyone older or condense things, ect. Since this isn't for real I was just doing it however I wanted.

ALSO, I watched Super 8 over the weekend, and I would like to retract my Chloe Moretz vote for Annie in place of Elle Fanning because I really enjoyed her and she had this sort of haunted, mysterious vibe.

Originally when I typed out the topic, I had added that I prefer the storytelling in comic form and a movie couldn't do it justice. Then I remembered "I... think most people would probably feel the same way and understand that this topic is not a serious debate, just for fun." I'm just a big movie buff and can't help but imagine how it would translate to film.
