I found some older stuff randomly while searching for an interview that I think is from before he started the comic, but you can certainly see the beginnings in some of the pieces (fairies, mostly). While interesting to look at, I empathize with creatives' feelings as far as having older work resurface. I don't even know why I'm posting this, but there you are. Second picture looks like Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law from his early years as a detective.
Also first picture definitely looks like it has Homestuck influences. Could Tom be an HS fan?

Haha, do you mean Tom influenced? Those are certainly HS characters.
And yep, Tom is a HS fan. He's posted fan art for HS more than once if I'm not mistaken (at the very least one of the trolls; don't know the names).

Edit: I actually don't know where the troll pic is, I've just seen a few (a sketched group shot and a colored one with candy corn horns specifically) floating around.

Yeah, seems more and more likely he's trolling.
Was hoping he wasn't though.
Would have been interesting to see Tom draw in a style different from GC, "scantily clad" (which is not a prerequisite for the term pin-up) or not.
At least I hope it would be different, I don't think his usual art style would work very well with anything I associate with the word pinup...
