In case you missed the announcement on Twitter, Tom is streaming the drawing of the Volume 3 cover on Ustream: www.ustream.tv/channel/gunnerkrigg-courtETA: Here's one of the designs he's sketching: Earlier he had a robot.

Uh, I can't see any of your pictures.
EDIT: Ah. Looks he's decided on the 'Ysengrin cradles Annie in chapter 31' concept. It's the best one.
I also like the title of the book-'Reason'

I also like the title of the book-'Reason' (spoiler alert, in case you haven't read the chapters) I think the title of the book is suitable to almost scary levels. If you think about it, the last two book covered the how, what and where questions of the known story arcs. In the latest chapters that are going to be in this book, most of the why questions (or 'reasons') has been answered, e.g. why Jack was acting strange after meeting Zimmy (possessed by whitelegs), Why is Jeanne at the Annan waters (killed by court to defend against unknown threat), and most importantly, why did Surma die (Surma giving birth to Annie caused the fire to pass to Annie, leading to Surma's death when the fire passed completely). Like always, this just leads to more questions.

So the progression is: The first book (Orientation) introduces the world, characters and mythology, the second (Research) fleshes those things out as new discoveries are made, and the third provides the 'why', as you say. Even the book titles have arcs. Next: Preliminary color.

Even the book titles have arcs. Next: Preliminary color. Maybe this means the next section is about what the characters do about these revelations. More action scenes! I can see it now. Parley wielding a huge broadsword, Annie will blast away with fire, Kat uses her inventions and her control of a robot army (see her as an prophet/angel), Renard claws away, Andrew using a bow & arrow and never misses (due to his order making powers) and...... Sorry. Being playing way to much dragon age recently.

I like to imagine how someone new to the story would interpret these. The second book cover gives a very "light hearted adventure times" feel, whereas this is more "SHIT JUST GOT REAL".
Also, I can't imagine a new reader encountering the sheer volume of mind blowing plot-twists in chapters 23-31 in one sitting. I kind of which I had the mental fortitude to wait for the next book and see what that's like.
