Well, I don't know... Listening to the song again, it sounds to myself like there's a very short "e", although the over-emphasis of the "a" obscures it completley.
Also, I just noticed that Annie's left hand in the first panel is strangely able to distort the fabric of time-space in order to remove a section of the railing. Neat trick.
