On seeing the recent-est page, I've seen it before... It bugs me that she's born with a spear, helmet, shield and armguard but not with anything else. Either make her born naked like normal people or give her a full set of clothes. Don't half-ass it like this. |

Time to ruin everyone's childhood: iirc, it's author-confirmed (via Formspring, years ago; should be in the Chrysoprax archive) that characters in the comic don't see Zimmy's eye gunk, just like Anja's eyes are stylized for the readers' perception -- and they "don't pay attention" to her iris colour, either.
I'll never quite adjust to that. Just like I still imagine it as "an-TI-muh-nee" whenever I don't concentrate on avoiding the mistake.

You are right. I must say I find that...pretty disappointing. Also pretty confusing, because I have no idea why that gunk is a metaphor, but her red irises and sharp teeth are real. Had Tom not written that back then nobody would have ever gotten the idea Zimmy's eyes did not look like that to everyone else. |

I've met someone who had Zimmy's teeth, once (because he was born with ectodermal dysplasia; had very sparse, gossamer-like hair), which I can't say for her eyes. Doesn't change that I also prefer to think her eyes are obscured "in-comic" as well and GkC students ignore it because they've seen much stranger already, or because it "makes sense". Which, in turn, doesn't change that I'm smiling at the chainquoting (as much as, I hope, everyone else who took up the offer of improvisational theatre here  ) |

What I'm getting at is that Mr. Siddell might have changed his mind over the years, including Zimmy's eye gunk. See also: the appearance of Bob the gardener.
