I assume it's the Groke (original Swedish name Mårran) from Tove Jansson's Moomin stories. This particular rendition seems to be from is from a '90 Japanese animation based on the stories. The character is sufficiently recognizable and close to original Tove's drawings that I guessed it without ever seeing the animation. |

Especially with big scary things turning out to be friendly in GCK. Though in Groke's case, her friendliness can be kind of deadly on its own. Why yes, I watched the moomin cartoons and read the books as a kid.  |
