I... have never heard that scout chant during sea scouts. Oh well. Maybe I've just never heard of it. Or more likely, I forgot it. ...I don't get this one. Maybe it was just at that certain camp (Wente yay), sounds like the sort of thing they would come up with. Or just Boy Scouts in general. I dunno, it's been years. Also, UD to the rescue! I see... that certainly is odd.

You kids need to learn your pop culture! VEVO youtube account? Kinda annoying "singer?" Meh, no wonder I don't know this E: listening to it it sounds kind of familiar, it's just the lyrics are *unintelligible* so I had no idea what it was. (relevant)

Quite a few alt-rock bands that have made the big time on VEVO, like The Fratellis:

Being VEVO-ized merely means that the band has signed with one of the labels that participates in VEVO (those being UMC, EMI, and Sony), which does not necessarily mean that the band is popular at the time of signing or that they necessarily ever will end up being so. Taking part in VEVO to signal boost can certain help that, but it's not any guarantee. For one thing, the number of bands who have VEVO channels is enormous, and that's just a drop in the bucket that is YouTube in general. Anyway, point is, being VEVO-ed does not necessarily mean popular or bad, being popular does not necessarily mean VEVO-ed or bad, and being bad does not necessarily lead to being VEVO-ed or popular. Break down that wall of VEVO prejudice, maaaaan!

Still kind of meh. I dunno, it's all just more of this stuff as far as I'm concerned. Not that I actively listen to or really care about that general part of music anyways after 5+ years of playing in concert and marching bands. (though that video is admittedly more creative than the usual stuff ) Random edit - I have this running at low-volume for music at the moment. Was listening to stuff like this a week ago. It varies, but none of it's popularized or anything, it's just well-known because it's that good (also wip3out's an awesome game) =P Unrelated: been working on a thing (separate from the similar thing in the signature) while watching this topic. Whee. And curse you proboards and your horrid css setup. And yes I know the banner's kind of cringe-worthy

Remember the comic where the panel of Syndrome saying "Hipsterrrrr" originally came from? How the entire point was that the "hipster" accusation is so overused as to be completely meaningless? "When everyone is hipsters, no one will be."

"When everyone is hipsters, no one will be." The real (no longer used?) meaning of hipster is someone who only likes things that are unpopular or "obscure" to the point where they dislike anything popular on principle and sometimes like things that are too crap to be popular "ironically" (like ugly Xmas jumpers). The irony being that they like what other hipsters like, meaning that they are just as sheeple as everyone else. The misused meaning is like the comic. Really <3 "manly guys"

Heh, I remember having a similar reaction to somebody not knowing about Monty Python.. It's just a fact of life that different people will like different things, and often not know about stuff that other people might happen to like. Like if I were to ask somebody at my college what David Bergeaud has been doing since Insomniac randomly replaced him, I'd probably just get a blank stare. It's not that it's old, but it's that it's just not the type of stuff [person involved] knows or cares about. Everbody's different, I guess some people just don't realize that. Also I'm not exactly young myself Old enough to have a few broken tape decks and walkmans, laughing on line.

You were going to an odd camp. Also, quinkgirl: Kudos on going into Sea Scouts. That's a really cool, unique program that you should get a lot out of if you take it seriously.

I liked Scouts, but mostly because they let us camp, fish, and shoot. I always showed up for outings but once Boy Scouts started and everybody was obsessing about merit badges and deadlines it gradually wore me down until I was bored of it. By the time I got to First Class I decided I wanted to quit. Three of my friends ended up getting Eagle, and I was kind of kicking myself, but then again... not really. Announcements, Announcements, Announcements! What a horrible way to die, what a horrible way to die, what a horrible way to be talked to death, what a horrible way to die!

This was my exact experience with scouts. I don't think I got to first class however, I don't remember the order of badges at all but it sounds like you went further then me.

It's about halfway.
Tenderfoot Second Class First Class Star Life Eagle
Used to be you didn't have to do Star and Life to do Eagle, you just got your first aid plus CPR, orienteering, cooking, survival, knot-tying and whatever else and you were good to go. They added more merit badges though.

Looking back, it could be a number of things.. Could have been marching band, but most of those were inappropriate jokes and trollish cadences. Could have been young marines, but most of those were about killing stuff and bashing the Army. Could have been a high school pep rallies, but..maybe. Got another opportunity in mind for this thread after the update anyway. Edit: I got up to Star in scouts. I was always kinda lazy about the advancement side of things, but they pushed hard
