Cannon or canon? One letter makes all the difference. :-) Somewhere on the internet there is floating around, a comparison of two letters. One letter is a declaration of love and devotion and the other is a declaration of indifference and rejection. The only things different in the two letters are the punctuation and formatting. Otherwise, the two letters have exactly the same words, in exactly the same order. To quote an old sunblock advert, "yes, there is indeed a difference". ;-) now I really wanna find that. My Dear Pat, The dinner we shared the other night–it was absolutely lovely! Not in my wildest dreams could I ever imagine anyone as perfect as you are. Could you–if only for a moment–think of our being together forever? What a cruel joke to have you come into my life only to leave again; it would be heaven denied. The possibility of seeing you again makes me giddy with joy. I face the time we are apart with great sadness. John P.S.: I would like to tell you that I love you. I can’t stop thinking that you are one of the prettiest women on earth. ------------------------- My Dear, Pat the dinner we shared the other night. It was absolutely lovely–not! In my wildest dreams, could I ever imagine anyone? As perfect as you are, could you–if only for a moment–think? Of our being together forever: what a cruel joke! To have you come into my life only to leave again: it would be heaven! Denied the possibility of seeing you again makes me giddy. With joy I face the time we are apart. With great “sadness,” John P.S.: I would like to tell you that I love you. I can’t. Stop thinking that you are one of the prettiest women on earth.

does everyone here reads the same stuff I do? cause it seems that way. anyway, Bet you a shiny nickle that this is cannon in Tom's head. The only comic I know of where cannon in things' heads is normal, is Girl Genius. I have absolutely no idea what you mean by that sentence; "cannon in things' heads", what? Also, now we're on the subject, I can't believe I'm still reading girl genius, it suddenly went downhill when they entered castle heterodyne, and it's been rubbish ever since, I guess I just hope it becomes good again :s

This isn't the first time in the comic that there have been things with cannon in their heads. I disagree, but there's no point in arguing personal taste.

There's also the apocryphal story of the woman who found a really nice but expensive necklace, and sent a telegram to her husband to ask if it was okay to buy it. His intended reply was "NO. PRICE TOO HIGH", but the telegraph company sent it as "NO PRICE TOO HIGH". The husband sued the telegram company and won.

I found one where changing the punctation doesn't do a thing:
You paint like Hitler.
You paint, like Hitler.

Well, the problem with the whole "time travel to kill Hitler/make him a succesful painter" thing is that Hitler didn't create the Nazi party; that party existed and Hitler joined it at some point; had he not done so, the party would still have existed with mostly the same ideas and agenda, in the same historical context. The process and outcome of world war II may then have been sensibly different, but it's unlikely that it would have not happened, and not necessarily in a better way (imagine a world where the German-Poland negotiations succeeded, and World War II started not with Germany and the USSR conjointly invading Poland, but with Poland and Germany conjointly invading the USSR; western Europe and the US manage not to get involved at first, leaving Japan, Germany, Poland, Finland and Turkey to divide up most of Asia between themselves, and instead of communism, we face eurasian fascism during the cold war…)

That last panel of Antimony + Eglamore is just incredible btw. I think it's really cool how all I had to do was paste on smiles and the scene still works perfectly.

Here I particularly appreciate Tom's ability to unequivocally convey so much with no words. Eglamore's internal struggle whether to strangle Reynardine here and now or wait until they're in the basement is plain as day on his face and could be nothing else.

Paz is totally fine with this situation. (Fun fact: I was going to do this before I did the multi-Paz one, but it seemed like much more work.)
(Fun fact 2: Try thinking that the line in Paz's face isn't her mouth but the shadow under her nose and she's looking kind of bored. I think it's easier with the other versions though.)
