I think Jones is congratulating herself right now, for the flower stunt having 'worked'.

Does anyone else find the room a bit sad/scary? It looks lived in and well used, but doesn't seem to match Jones. Everything looks nice, but old fashioned. It looks like someone lived there once, but left suddenly. The room and its contents have faded into a lifeless grey over time. Is this someone else's room and Jones just left it alone when she took it over, or did something happen to Jones? Or maybe Tom just didn't bother coloring the room >>> Because the furnishings in the room are insignifigant >>> Maybe it is actually very colorful >>> Maybe colorful furnishings don't match Jones too.

Perhaps it was a stylistic choice to accentuate the "party" hat???

That suggests something different about Jones - maybe she doesn't really need that much light?
Of course it could be late at night or very early in the morning (either or), and sometimes people who are up at those hours tend to not use that much light. I'm a nightowl myself, and sometimes I'm lit in my room by just one floor lamp, and my monitor, and that's it.

I think this has been my favorite bonus page. Not sure about favorite page overall--there's a lot of awesome pages.

(Side note about distorting probability: there is an extra card in the air. Finish the current suit, run off one more, add two jokers... and there's a card left.) Decks of cards often include a card with the brand name on it or something that effectively serves as a third joker.

Is that a pair of rings on the table? His and hers size? Perhaps Jones has plans for Eglamore Maybe she pre-ordered rings for these two? Also: how is that staying on her head? I don't see any string or elastic Because she sits perfectly still like a living statue. And when she moves, it's that smooth. As if you needed the answer. The whole point about Jones is that she's just so hilariously awesome, no? While this page is hilarious, I think the most fun comes of imagining the rest of the staff's reactions as Jones goes around wearing her party hat for the rest of the day. That is, she would remove it if anyone asked, but no one ever dared to bring this issue to her attention? I'm just surprised that Jones is the time of person that would talk aloud to herself. But she didn't talk aloud: her mouth is closed. She's apparently using it for general room lighting, and it isn't doing a very good job - plus it shines right in her eyes every time she lifts her head, so it is not serving its intended function well either. Maybe she doesn't accidentally lifts her head, ever?

Must be one of those extra cards that shows up on top of the deck when you take it out of the box, with the rules for poker or the publishing company's information or something. ;D

I expected no less from you, Parley... But I am highly impressed at Andrew.

Is it possible that Parley + Andrew could be chosen together to be the medium? Or at least that the relationship will make them more serious competition for Annie? (I am new, hi everyone)

That page does not address Jones's age at all. Jones was never a student at the Court.

Jones was never taught at the Court. You could get around that by saying that that doesn't mean she wasn't a student, she could've just skipped out on every single one of her classes, but that's a bit far-fetched. It seems safe to say that she wasn't a student there.

Beyond that Tom said on Formspring specifically that she was never a student. But Formspring doesn't have a search feature and I'm not terribly inclined to drop everything I'm doing to spend the next 10 minutes looking for a citation for a fact that any of 30 other people can verify here on the boards.

It's Gunnerkrigg Court... far-fetched is par for the course. In the strip I linked above, Eglamore says, "I wish Jones could have been in the photo, though." Since the previous two strips establish that it's a student photo day, the clear implication is that Jones was a contemporary of them, even if not a literal "student", apparently.

How did the previous two strips establish that it's a student photo day? That seems to be your own assumption. Certainly there are a lot of students around afterward but there doesn't seem to be anything specifically denying teachers or other adults from being in a picture. The photographer only asks if there are other groups.

There's nothing specifically saying that all the people in those pages aren't actually ham sandwich golems, either. Thus, we are only left to draw reasonable conclusions.

Since there's no evidence against the theory that it's a ham-sandwich-golem-picture-taking day, it's technically not unreasonable to conclude that the people in said pages might indeed be ham sandwich golems.

All we know from this one is that they were taking group shots by request. Whatever Jones is, Eglamore thinks enough of her to want her in a group shot.

Except that there has been zero mention of ham sandwich golems in GK... so yes, it is an unreasonable conclusion. Which is kind of my point.

And yet you find it unreasonable that James would want to include Jones in a casual school picture if she's not a fellow student? In story, we know Jones was in the court while James was there. We know no other details about her at that time, other than Donald thinks Surma can't stand her. Whatever she was, James liked her. You just don't have enough information to conclude Jones was a student and the author has already confirmed she wasn't. If Annie was taking a group photo, I could see her wanting Kat, Robot, Mort, and Shadow 2 hiding somewhere. (I don't think it would be healthy for him to be flashed by a camera.)

When Jack started acting crazy there had been zero mention of whitelegs; when Sivo!Reynardine showed up there had been zero mention of demons who can possess people and objects through their eyes. I think it's safe to say that Tom doesn't always explain that certain kinds of creatures exist in the GC universe before inserting such creatures into the story.

Eglamore was once a regular kid, now he's able to super jump, so its possible Jones was also once a regular kid, but a regular kid would be a student or not be there at all.
How would you go from 'regular kid, non-student Jones' to 'position of high authority, sinks like a rock, deflecting swords with her face Jones'
If she wasn't a student, its possible she wasn't a kid either.

Maybe Eglamore is prescient, and none of them had ever met Jones yet. James was just lamenting the fact that his future amour, with whom he would share gentle public grooming and fencing smackdowns, had not yet even been to this esteemed institute. That does seem like a drag.
Surma didn't know her per se, just was tired of hearing about this mysterious future-damsel whom no one had met. Jeez Eglamore, quit bringing up the other lady.
