Oh, wow. I was really hoping someone would make a video like this. It's beautiful. I love how you managed to include all the elements of the song (the boatman! ). *goes to watch again*

I love how you managed to include all the elements of the song (the boatman! ). *goes to watch again* Yeah,it was such a coincidence that Tom drew a picture of himself rowing a boat.I couldn't find anything to represent the "willow wand" , and "bush and briar" though,so I just used Steadman and Young to represent the cause of the elf's death, since the lover drowns in the original poem/song,instead of getting shot. Well, credits to Tom for having such a diverse range of drawings. He's good .

You could try posting it in the art thread.

224 views on youtube, that's not too bad. heh,I'm ever the pessimist.Well,I wonder how many of those are actually from people who know what GKC is and appreciate it.I'm sorry,I'm quite cynical and jaded about the Internet, rather like Mister Tom Siddell.heh

Also it would help to title it, "I made a new video about The Annan Waters" because when I first saw this thread, I thought, "I've already seen it", thinking it was an existing Kate Rusby video.

I never ever ever read the comments on YouTube. The moronic dregs of society love to post the most hateful posts because they think its funny.

The vid looks great. I'm not a real big fan of the song itself but it does go well with the images.
Are you planning any future projects? One suggestion, I'd love to see one that's Kat-centric, featuring a song by Aphex Twin or Boards of Canada. Nothing too harsh or unusual, just something energetic that Kat might be caught listening to.

You did a great job. I liked the slow fade in segues, the use of black & white contrasting the color scenes. I liked the contrast of the organic forest and the metallic court. I like that you left the word bubbles empty... on the boat scene, it made me think of two people in quiet conversation. At 3.26 there's a floating word bubble. That might be better covered with a bit of nearby black so it doesn't draw the eye.

Jayne:Ah,the bubbles.Heh,I totally suck at Photoshop,so yeah....the contrast between Court and Woods is not intentional though, only cuz I couldn't really find enough images to fill the slideshow,so the mare had to be a Model H,the boatman is Tom,etc.different intent, same effect,I suppose.heh.
well, percival,to answer your question...I'm not sure...most likely,no....I just did this on a whim, since nobody made the connection yet, between the song and the story in GC.Not too good at non-photo slideshows.

Is that the song in Donnie Darko?
BTW blinkerstoned, it's awesome that you've decided to contribute to the Gunnerkrigg fandom in your own way. Kudos to you!

The song really is beautiful, and Tom's artistry, is of course, top notch. I think you did a great job with this. You put a lot of thought into which images you displayed when, and I think that that really made the whole thing a lot more touching.
On a side note, people HAVE made the connection frequently. There is also some reference to sir eglamore that people found. Its good to see you make this though.

Thank you Casey! As an American, I had no inkling of the model Janet+Winsbury was following, or that such a tale even existed! Chalk one thing up as "learned from the forum that never would have been learned otherwise"!
