I still wonder how much hope there is for Jack. His plight is, so far as we know, unprecedented; even Jones apparently doesn't know the consequences of mixing the power station's experiments with Zimmy's plight (though she's willing - possibly too willing - to find out). So the Court probably won't know how to cure him. And even if Zimmy was willing to help (which seems unlikely, knowing her - especially her response to his condition at the end of Chapter Nineteen), she probably couldn't do much; even Gamma and the rain can't do more than hold her troubles at bay.
The only hope Jack has is that Zimmy's condition may be incurable (from what we know) but it was apparently part of her from birth; Jack, on the other hand, only got that way because he was infected. So maybe his infection can be undone. But I doubt that it'll be easy.

Maybe this is just Rey’s way of showing extreme gratitude.

I still wonder how much hope there is for Jack. I believe Zimmy when she was describing the Zimmingham experience as being only as real as you let it be. It looks to me like Zimmy talking about how much she cared for her friend Gamma may have made Antimony strongly wish for Kat to be there. Instantly the fake Kat appeared and started talking about wanting to get out. My Wild Speculation is that Jack's infection happened when he strongly desired to see someone and he or she suddenly appeared. Jack's mind made a "nobody" into one of the talking/thinking nobodies like the fake Kat. Because the Nobody was in the aspect of someone personally important to Jack he omitted the encounter when talking about it here. When Jack returned to reality he and the Nobody were still together, and Jack was still fooled, therefore the Nobody got "out" and that's what gave the spider-thing a sort of reality. If the fake Kat hadn't been gopped then Antimony would've been infected as well. Therefore the treatment for Jack's infection would be to sever his emotional attachment to the fake person he encountered in Zimmingham. In short, Jack must confront and accept reality. Antimony could probably do that the same way she helped the boy's ghost but it won't be easy even if she explains everything to him before they start. Time has passed and the spider-thing has gotten bigger, Jack has accumulated more webs binding him, he acts crazier, and now he can float/fly. I figure all that indicates that the bond between Jack and the Nobody who's important to him has gotten very strong indeed. If I am right about everything the cure will likely take a whole chapter but afterward he should be okay. He may have lingering aftereffects of the experience but the spider-thing shouldn't be able to manifest or make him do crazy things without another trip to Zimmingham.

Not even Reynardine can resist the power of Jones's breasts.

Very interesting and coherent theory, imaginaryFriend. You should get a dozen "calling it" cookies if it turns out right!

Seconded. I only read two or three key sentences, but it seems very coherent and logical to me.

Juliette is the Authoritative Turtleneck Lady? Oui. Well, now there's a smart idea. Let's let things proceed and watch what happens when a mentally-unstable, more than slightly pissed off boy with psychic superpowers gets his hands on the one person he suspects is responsible for his condition. Or maybe they don't believe that the station summons Zimmy? The question is, what he's going to do once he discovers that Zimmy has no interest in the station anymore. And how much time this observation would need to get trough his web-calked skull. Best case, Zimmy's going to have a rather unpleasant encounter, possibly ending with a "TELL ME WHERE THE BOMB ISWHAT YOU DID TO ME"-style interrogation. Or she could scare spider away from Jack's head. But i suspect she peacefully mopes in her dorm. Or tries to invent a new invective for the jerks who can't even use their lawnmower at proper regular intervals. I'd really like to see something chronicling Jones' exploits. At this moment she is the most interesting character for me. She is the most mysterious character. Which says a lot when applied to GC. Even if it doesn't affect her at all that'd be another clue in itself. How? It most likely would not work on her, but if so, why? She's Blinker- cold and may be either nonmagical or incompatible with this as well. Or it can fail just because she's way too powerful for Zimmy. Or she just doesn't want to go. Or something else altogether. After all, it swept only two (three if Kat was real) of the whole group along with Zimmy and Gamma. It seems like kind of a dick move to let Jack's plan go ahead, considering what the power station does to Zimmie. As if it wasn't fired up every few days unless we saw it?.. can we be certain that Zimmy will come back? We can be almost certain she will not. Because that time she 1) found the source of an annoying "noise" and 2) found out that the fake rain from it doesn't help her at all. Why she would ever approach it after this, be it on or off? Jack's just nuts and wages a war between his own cloud castles, end of the issue. Annie was sure Kat is there in 4 pages earlier, thus sooner or later it would happen. Or she could appear just because Annie thought the noise they made can attract someone. We can't even be sure "as real as you let it be" didn't meant it was the real Kat after all.

But then what if… …Gamma was Zimmy's nobody??? I was actually kicking a similar idea around for a while because Zimmy may have a spider but I don't think so. That shadow in panel 2 is probably just a foreshadowing (heh) or a representation of all of the Nobodies, because they're all Zimmy's. I think they're just her memory fragments of random people she saw around Birmingham. Those generic Nobodies don't have faces because Zimmy doesn't usually look people in the eye for the same reason she doesn't read... the small details probably start to change if Zimmy concentrates. I expect Jack's Nobody is only "real" in Jack's psyche. It's not really wrong to say that the spider and Jack's Nobody are the same thing, though it'd be more accurate to say the spider was born from Jack's attachment to his Nobody. That said, we can't 100% rule out a Nobody made-real that will have to be hunted down and dealt with to cure Jack. Since the Nobody is probably something like a missing or deceased parent or sibling, or ex-girlfriend, Jack would try to fight to protect the Nobody in reality just the same as if it were all ethereal. Considering how strong Zimmy's attachment to Gamma is it might explain this but if that's the case then Gamma must be some sort of rogue Nobody because she's key to stopping Zimmy's run-amok powers. I figure that thing is a arachnid representation of Zimmy's belief that her powers will eventually kill her and/or make her completely lose control.

Or it can fail just because she's way too powerful for Zimmy. Or she just doesn't want to go. Or something else altogether. Sure, if Jones is far enough away then not being caught up in the effect won't tell us anything but hopefully she will be observing from close up. And yes, since even Coyote doesn't know what Jones is exactly I expect she'll be too powerful for it. But I am thinking that etheric-oriented people are more likely to go than non-etheric people. If there's a huge Zim City event and Jones doesn't get taken when other nearby humans without etheric talent do, then we can put the cyborg theory to bed at least. Annie was sure Kat is there in 4 pages earlier, thus sooner or later it would happen. Or she could appear just because Annie thought the noise they made can attract someone. We can't even be sure "as real as you let it be" didn't meant it was the real Kat after all. I'm reasonably sure that was not the real Kat that got gopped. The hair was different after all. Very interesting and coherent theory, imaginaryFriend. You should get a dozen "calling it" cookies if it turns out right! I've made a bunch of kooky predictions... If I'm right about this spider stuff, Jones being a version of Galatea, the Annan Rivers, and the imminent Antimony dating triangle (which Jack might actually fill both legs of) then all the forum's cookies are belong to me.
