that's right, Annie, leave your fingerprints all over the place. You really think etheric-Annie has fingerprints?

You really think etheric-Annie has fingerprints? That wouldn't be too odd, actually. Fingerprints seem like something ghosts could conceivably leave, and moving things etherically might be similar.

The secret control room has an open transom window. I love the Court security team.
===
Am I right in thinking that Annie is trying to show Jack that killing the Watch-bot was unnecessary, that she could have disabled or befuddled?
===
"Excellent!" is indeed right up there with responding to a door knock with "Enter!" as a sign of someone more than little too tightly wound.

There is the possibility for serious power creep problems with Annie's new ethereal powers.

"an rfid"? rfid is pronounced "riffid". I suppose you could say "are eff eye dee" but I've never heard anyone actually do that. RFID is an acronym which stands for Radio Frequency IDentification. Usually with acronyms that have a lot of awkward vowels SOP is to say them aloud. Just my experience though. I also don't think it's possible for etheric Annie to leave fingerprints because fingerprints are composed of oils from the surface of our skin, and IDK how ghost biology works. (Maybe she leaves ectoplasm ;D).

@those who are saying she can go through walls: I'm not sure about that. The window above the door is open, as Refugee said, and she probably sent her etheric self in through that way. I cite the fact that it looks like her arm is coming from above, not the side.
I'm struck by how much the two of them look like Zimmy and Gamma in the last panel. Just imagine them in the same place and consider: what would be different?

There is the possibility for serious power creep problems with Annie's new ethereal powers. It occurred to me just now that Annie's ethereal form had to phase through a solid object to manipulate that button. She could probably do the same to someone's internal organs, if she were of an appropriately murderous mindset.

Any speculations of what the control room contains? Also, Annie needs to take a chill pill. First robots and now doors? What other inanimate objects will she feel sympathy for next? Sympathy for boxbot could be next!!

I agree that she went in through the window. The 6th panel sort of points in that direction, and there's been no indication that she can pass through things. That would be a pretty serious development, as pointed out by some of the above posts. On different note, I think Annie's etheric hand looks very pretty and graceful. But maybe I only appreciate that because I'm a ballet dancer. I'm not sure if that's a wierd thing for normal people to point out.

So... 's propably just rhethoric at this point, but is there anyone out there who does NOT believe that Jack is about to do something everyone in the court is going to regret?

Well I really hope Jack wont be a new sidekick to Annie. That would probably mean less of Kat and I miss her. Then again it would probably entail a lot of fun (annoyed) interaction between Kat and Jack.

Well, that does seem probable, but I'm not convinced of it. To me this chapter has kind of the same feeling as chapter 3 to it. I'm halfway expecting that for a moment something terrible is about to happen, and then it's prevented - either more or less coincidental or by Annie or Jack doing a smart move in the last moment (somehow I think it would be better "balanced" if it's Jack doing the saving move instead of Annie). - but then again; something like that is perhaps a bit to action'y for GC :/

Some people pronounce GUI, G-U-I and some people pronounce it 'gooey'. How you pronounce an acronym is largely personal preference, unless the acronym is clearly supposed to be pronounced as an english word or similar.

Awhile back I worked with a team doing fairly intense RFID research, and they called it "arr eff eye dee". Besides, I'd think that especially in a place like the Court, you'd avoid calling it "riffid" to avert the accidental summoning of triffids. Gods, giant mobile poisonous carnivorous plants, possibly from outer space, which always know where things are in your garage and closets! Terrifying!

I've probably mentioned this before, but I suspect that Tom might be leery of having Jack team up with Annie and Kat on a regular basis, since a team of "three schoolchildren, one the lead, one the same gender as the lead and the first friend that the lead made, and one the opposite gender to the first two" could encourage more claims of "Gunnerkrigg Court" being similar to another British story about a strange young orphan attending a strange boarding school....

Rental Magica? No, there's two girls and the lead is a boy. El Goonish Shive? No, there team quickly expands. Tom Sawyer! Wait, you said "British". Ah, that one. I just didn't know whom exactly its main cast consists of. Well, for people who are into such things... <shrugging eyestalks>

That particular team structure: 2A+1B, is so damn common that if anyone used it to say GKC was like Preacher I'd slap them.
