My two theories about the blinding light: 1) Annie is standing right next to a god, for pete's sake. 2) Perhaps Coyote preserved Rey's body, in part, by laying it near... the Seed Bismuth. Either way, something in the immediate area is emanating an overwhelming amount of etheric energy. Maybe! Or maybe much of the forest is just brimming with intense power that is scarcely found on the other side of the river. We know zilch about the "seed bismuth" other than it was an important element in creating the court, so any speculation is mostly fetches in the dark.

FIRE IN THE HOLE! *poof* [screen goes white]
I don't play CS anymore but I just thought of that.

On the previous page there was a sun-like symbol where Ren is sitting... that might explain the uber-bright ether in this region.
...that and I can't help but notice the constant juxtaposition of Coyote with the moon and Renard with the sun.

Also, I love the shading in panel 5. I don't think I've ever seen that kinda style in GC before (or at least its so infrequent that I've forgotten). It's a really cool effect, and works great with the scene. I am presently angry at Tom because I can't do shading like that. I at first wanted to draw my Lovely Alice comic (I haven't even started) with that style of shading, but it turns out I can't do that sort of shading!

Perhaps you could send an email to ask him for tips on how to do it? There's a mailto link near the bottom of each comic page.

Tom's answer is "practise".
Tom, we all know that that's a lie and you're holding a leprechaun hostage!

Tom, we all know that that's a lie and you're holding a leprechaun hostage! It's like that The Sandman story except with four-leaf clovers and bags of gold instead of rape.

Anyone else notice that Coyote lost his cool for a moment? Annie actually did something he didn't expect, so he lost control and got a little concerned.

Yeah, I did notice he was drawn the way Civil Reynard is.
