The lesser known Tree-man Wolf thing (or Lupus Arboreous Badtemperedus ) is a skilled fisherman, using his keen senses to detect his prey in deeper waters before flinging his magnificent extending forearm into the air, from which it plunges into the murky depths, deftly skewering his meal in one fell stroke.
Incredible, really.

Didn't see that one coming.
But why would a Wolf-Tree be fishing in a river? I thought that was more of a Bear-Tree thing.

That's highly efficient. I need an arm like that.
Maybe he catches the fish to attract some other creature, like a bear or eagle to discuss a pact.

Gameplay footage of the fishing minigame has been revealed in today's page. ;D And a most excellent bit of footage it is. Too bad only giant mutant tree-wolves get to play the game.

Well for someone who suffers from quite the tremor he's very precise. Why does coyote want Annie to see this? To show her how dangerous Yse is?

Ok, Coyote REALLY needs to take away Ysengrin's copies of Parasyte.

I had also never realized that Ysengrin had a part of his right ear missing until this page.
I actually thought that was the focus of today's strip. Catching a fish seems a little less exciting than that, but I don't want to speak too soon.

Ysengrin only eats fish who used to be humans. Oh good someone else thought of that. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if Ysengrin was hunting down humans that took the test to become forest creatures. Although Ysengrin could be helping the traitorous fish to become human just like he "helped" the fairies. Or he could just be hungry or practicing.

Give a wolf a fish and he'll eat for a day. Make a wolf a tree and... you get the joke.

He can hear the fish from above the water? Those are some good senses. Maybe the ear perking up is to show that he's spotted a fish. That seems like a dogish response.

So, is this Coyote's subtle way of threatening Annie? Eglamore only captures what he hunts; but what Ysengrin hunts, he kills...so...be our friend.

In panel 3 Ysengrin is using his right arm? branch? to spear the fishie but in panel 5 it's his left - unless he's spun round and is now facing away from the pool; it's hard to tell.
I didn't notice at first because the art and story are so compelling, and I'm 99.9% sure it doesn't matter - but a small part of me wonders whether Tom is doing another subtle clue to the storyline, or has just gone for the better dramatic image. Possibility 3 is that I've turned into an obsessive pedant <looks in mirror worriedly>.

It's clear that Ysenny's been fired by Coyote.
Why else would he be spending his time fishing?

It looks like it's the same arm to me. But that the force with which he throws his arm spins him somewhat. Like when you throw something hard a bit to the side it's easy to spin some from the force... Also the last panel looks like it's showing Yse from behind. You can make out the hood. In my opinion that is!
