Thief! The bedheads made me laugh. Annie doesn't seem to be getting it back. Does she want to spy on Jack?

Heh, sleeping bag hair. I don't think we've seen Annie's hair like that since chapter 12 or so.

Ahah, bedhair! ;D Let's hope they didn't forget to pack a hairbrush... ;D side note: If camping hurts your back like that, you either build your camp in a place that isn't suitable at all (i.e. a flat space), or you didn't use a proper underlay under your sleeping bag. That, or you're a whiny little sissy It is actually quite common to get back pain from a too soft mattress.

I begin to suspect that the Court wants this camping trip to be uncomfortable to dissuade students from thinking about going to Gillitie. To hate a life without technology. I one der where he has the stone. Could be quite a search. I doub it, its more likely that Annie will spy on him... The transportation of Jack to Zimmy's world proves he has a natural affinity for supernatural things. Unless there is a failsafe in case of robbery he could use the stone to notice he is being spied by Annie.

Well, maybe he only wants to bring it to her as a way to substantiate his apologies... but something tells me he just collected one more joke to become the unsettled butt of. After all, boy already showed a great talent in this area. Annie doesn't seem to be getting it back. Does she want to spy on Jack? Just to check on him. Who knows what he might get up to if he get nutty?

I think there is, Tom mentioned that the blinker stone can only be used by its owner, the only way other people could use it is if they have Annie´s permission... or maybe not, im having a bad case of the Alzheimers right now...

The transportation of Jack to Zimmy's world proves he has a natural affinity for supernatural things. Unless there is a failsafe in case of robbery he could use the stone to notice he is being spied by Annie. To do this, he must use stone. Annie didn't saw Rey as a fox spirit without stone, Smitty and Parley didn't noticed when she used it to talk with Rey. Zimmy (and Gamma) can see Annie's wound on their own, and thus probably could see spirit-traveling stone user as well, but Jack?..

Yeah, almost immediately I figured she was counting on Jack taking the stone so she could use it to keep track of him.
It's kind of brilliant, really: He can't use it without her permission, so it's effectively a spiritual One-Way mirror.

It would not at all surprise me if Jack's become spiritually sensitive (his magical nerves burned raw by his unscheduled visit to Zimmy's world) enough to notice Annie watching him via the stone. Of course, that'd mean the issue will come to a head that much sooner. ...ew ew ew. Given the implications of voluntarily giving someone a blinker stone, what are the implications of stealing one? (To be sure, Jack almost certainly has no idea what a blinker stone is, let alone its social significance. But still. It's possible that that might color Annie's perceptions and make the situation even more tense.)

Someone picking up the stone in the middle of the night might not be a disservice. It could just be that Jack thought that such a thing should not be left out. For Jack there's probably a second, stronger motive of having an excuse to talk to Annie again.

I suspect Annie may just choose to indirectly tell Jack to keep his hands off her stuff by summoning the stone to her.

I'm wondering a couple of things:
1) When Annie was down in the ravine, the fire died away when she fell asleep. Tom wrote somewhere, I believe, that the fire couldn't be maintained when she wasn't concentrating on it. So did the same thing happen here the night before? Did they only have fire for as long as Annie was still awake? The blinker stone is just "a lens for thought", so, I would assume it does nothing if you aren't thinking about it.
2) Does Jack know the blinker stone is Annie's? The only way I can see that he does is if he saw her putting it down. He's not shown, but he still could have observed that from off-screen. We don't really know for certain right now, though, whether he picked it up because it's hers, or just because he saw it lying on the ground later on.

Carpe diem! Every day is a new beginning! The early bird gets the worm! You're missing the best part of the day! Make hay while the sun shines! Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise! Get out of your sleeping bags before I get the cows with watergun noses!

I can't help but wonder what is Jack gonna do with the stone, though. For him, the stone won't do anything. Presumably, he'll fumble with it a bit, muttering "why isn't there an instruction manual for this thing?!" and eventually drop it somewhere as worthless, try to sneak it back to where he took it from, hide it in his pocket for later examination, or even try to hold it hostage in hopes of extracting some information from Annie.

I'm not sure whether to be embarassed or amused that Kat's bedhair looks like mine at it's neatest.
That.... that is a pretty big thumb.
Interestingly (ok, not interestingly at all) I went camping last weekend. Airbeds suck. Backs ache. Also, if you sleep past about 9am you will suddenly roast with the searing heat of a thousand clichés.
This is England! Can't it be overcast and rainy in the morning like every other day?!

So wait, the stone can only be used by people to whom it is given. But Annie did give the stone to the group of kids. Maybe Jack was there in the shadows, so he somehow gained control of it? I mean, it is a long shot, but...

She didn't give it to anyone, she set it on the ground.
edit: Plus I think it's a little more involved than just handing the blinker stone to someone anyway. She gave Anja her blinker stone voluntarily, twice.

Everyone focuses on the swarm of clichés, but to anyone who's been out camping and attempted to sleep late, I'm sure you've heard the two claps. Everyone's heard the two claps one time or another, unless you don't go camping. If you don't, let me tell you, that sound in the morning is the worst thing ever. It rivals boxbot in terribleness.
Also, what's to say that Jack even knows what it is? He's never seen it before, who knows if he can sense its 'etheric prowess' or whatever. If I saw a Ruby sitting on the ground, I'd pick it up too, magical or not.

When did Kat's hair get so long?
And I am with the thought that Zack will have definite psychic powers.

Theory time!
Jack, through his traumatizing visit to Zimmingham, gained evil psychic powers which will allow him to somehow trigger the blinker stone's abilities. He'll end up accidentally creating a fire and burning down the Young's Park! Annie - having experience with fires caused by irresponsible boys - will save the day, but later she'll get accused of causing the fire (it was her blinker stone after all, and no one will believe that Jack managed to activate it). Now Annie has to prove her innocence, but how?

She didn't give it to anyone, she set it on the ground. edit: Plus I think it's a little more involved than just handing the blinker stone to someone anyway. She gave Anja her blinker stone voluntarily, twice. I think intent matters with blinkerstones. Annie intended to give Anja permission to use the blinker stone, but not ownership. When she lit the fire for the other kids, she didn't give anyone permission to use the stone, let alone ownership. SHE used the stone. She simply chose to put the resulting fire in a particular place - as she would even if it were for her own use. Thus, Jack may physically have the stone, but he probably can't do anything etheric with it. (If he has a physical use for it... it's as effective as a paperweight as anything else of that size and weight.) Meantime Annie can see where it is and apparently who has it, and probably can summon it back. (I'm wondering what else she could do with it. Could she set it down etherically somewhere other than where she is physically? Could she use it to start a fire wherever it is, even if she is not there?)

Could she use it to start a fire wherever it is, even if she is not there? Starting a fire in Jack's trouser pockets? Now that's evil.

Someone picking up the stone in the middle of the night might not be a disservice. It could just be that Jack thought that such a thing should not be left out. For Jack there's probably a second, stronger motive of having an excuse to talk to Annie again. Assuming he knows it's hers (see casey's #2). But I agree with the "Jack thought that such a thing should not be left out" part. How's he to know that no matter where the stone ends up, Annie can get it back in the blink of an eye. Which brings up the point that Annie may try to just blink the stone back. I doubt she would want to do this because if Jack is already a little freaked out by magic, then she probably wouldn't want to make the stone seem like it just disappeared out of Jack's possession. If he doesn't give it back willingly, she might just blink it, but not without asking him for it first. I'm wondering a couple of things: 1) When Annie was down in the ravine, the fire died away when she fell asleep. I would guess yes, and yes, although maybe not even that long. Annie may have stopped thinking about it before going to bed.
