Only in GC is posting new content every day for two straight weeks called "a break".
Also: I think those are Mosquitoes in the sky, so I'm assuming they're Court-friendly. Is this simply a generic historical reference, being that QC is in the UK, or does this have specific impact on the plot of QC? I'm guessing the former...

With a microwave tower and fighter planes.... It is the BT tower in town. Those planes in the sky -- are those British planes, flying off the bomb the enemies? Or are those Axis planes, come to rain fiery death on this city? This picture is in the UK in WWII, right? Foreboding either way. Could be both: Birmingham was damaged rather badly in the Blitz. My roller derby team is named after this very part of Birmingham's history.

The short story might not have anything to do with the background in this picture: the other occasion that Tea made such an announcement (for the period between Chapters Fourteen and Fifteen), she was shown star-gazing from the roof of a building in the Court, but none of the guest comics involved star-gazing.

Reading your first sentence I immediately thought of all the webcomics that not only take breaks every few weeks but also miss updates from time to time. I guess you were thinking the same thing considering how you abbreviated Gunnerkrigg Court in your second paragraph ;D

Just wanted to add that the fog effect is really nifty and subtle. It really adds to the page!

I searched and couldn't find it. What was Annie's project for the science fair? I'm so curious. o: It's on this page panel 3. Another WW2 reference. Each time I've read that comic I've wondered if that War Bonds poster in the background of panel 2 is just a WW2 relic left hanging on the wall all this time or something else. I am too lazy to ask Tom about it, I guess because if it is relevant then he can't really answer. The poster looks a bit like the court, though.

The young man that is seen with Tea sometimes has hands. Does she have hand-granting powers?

I don't get it. What does abbreviating the webcomic's name have to do with its perfect update record?

I don't get it. What does abbreviating the webcomic's name have to do with its perfect update record? “QC” is short for Questionable Content, another fine webcomic. Its creator doesn’t have as huge a buffer as Tom has, and often no buffer at all.

Agreeing that QC is a funny, well-drawn comic. And while it's update record isn't flawless (like GC), It is pretty reliable for an 5-days-a-week updater. I can't imagine how much labor that takes.

I have a little mantra of sorts for when webcomics update slowly;
If updates start to slack, Be thankful it's not VG cats
Good thing Scott Ramsoomair's a good artist ;D

I know it was a mistake, but I thought it was funny that you said "QC is in the UK", and indeed Questionable Content is set in Northampton, albeit the MA one (I think). The original Northampton is in the UK.

Its anyone's guess as to what it will be about. On that note, lets speculate! I'm guessing it will either be about Zimmy and Gamma, or some lesser known background characters, like the boys from chapter 19.

At least you two have the excuse of being ill or sleep deprived. Apparently being British isn't an excuse for a strange sense of humour anymore. ¬_¬
Personally I'm hoping for "The Terrible Adventures of Boxbot". Or maybe Chapter 12a...

I think Tom's going to throw us a curve-ball and it won't be about GKC at all. Perhaps a little project Tom's been working on on the side. I'm putting my cards on the table and saying it won't be about GKC in any way. Let's see if I'm right ;D

Tom did mention another comic idea he had called Alphabet Soup featuring Zimmy and Gamma. Maybe this is related to that. Of course, I'm kinda hoping he'll do a comic like this.

Jeez, that picture was submitted in 2003. How long has Gunnerkrigg Court been in the works?

I'm thinking that the Alphabet Soup thing looks pretty likely, but either way, I am pumped for this week. You're awesome, Tom, and it's a very pretty page.

Wasn't Questionable Content the webcomic that almost did in Gunnerkrigg Court last year, thanks to the link that resulted in more traffic than the site could allow?

I still think that Zimmy and Gamma's predating Gunnerkrigg Court explains how their story feels almost independent of it; they're the only major recurring characters in the comic whose story could be told without once mentioning Gunnerkrigg, Gillitie Wood, and their inhabitants.
Incidentally, for those interested in Brinnie, a book's recently been published called "The Legend of Sigurd and Gudrun", which contains a retelling of the story of Sigurd, Brynhild, and those around them in verse - written by none other than J. R. R. Tolkien, author of "The Hobbit" and "The Lord of the Rings", and edited by his son Christopher. I've just been reading it, and it's great - though it probably makes better sense if you're familiar with the original Norse legend, since the poem focuses on the big moments in the story and rushes through the parts in between.

I got Sigurd and Gudrun for my birthday, I'll start reading it when I have the time. I'm really looking forward to it. Zimmy and Gamma predate the comic by a few years. See also this sketchIt's a shame Zimmy isn't surrounded by insects in GKC. That would be cool, although it would probably a lot more work for Tom.

They haven't uploaded any new content in AGES! It's even fed into "Super Effective" the mini comic about pokemon that's featured on the vgcats main site. It's a great comic, but I think they're running out of content. Hell, they even made a COMIC about running out of content.
