Renard has become familiar... maybe overly so.

This scene feels disturbingly similar to how we saw Ysengrin when he was given Coyote's strength. Let's hope there are fewer devourings of mythological beings or the Arbiter could be in for some trouble, and we could be in for Stone Wall Renard.

So Annie can now summon Reynard at will? Like out of her shadow maybe? Perhaps Rey can use fire magic!
I really do hope yes.

So I guess the question is now what happens to Annies' fire? Does it reside in him or does he just have access to it?
If the former, would there be consequences for Annie from not having it for extended periods?
It also might change Rey, he might get their temper, which I think would frighten him more than anyone.

I wouldn't think it abnormal for Renard to be able to access a teeny part of the fire now, with the acquiescence of the wielder of course, and there may be more perks like being able to communicate with her through the ether at great distances. On the flipside I suspect that (all else held equal) he's bound to Antimony's line now.

Cookies to everyone who made the firefox pun. My first cookie . I'm gonna keep it always in my tummy ! I'm a little confused as to what the second symbol is, is it just supposed to be a simpler version of Antimony's symbol, or does it have some other meaning? And for a split second I thought there was the moon behind Rey in the middle of the page...

I sort of wonder if we are going to see Jack's witchy friend again, so that Annie and Renard can get some pointers on how to best leverage their new relationship.

Rey has a new alchemical head symbol now - a fusion of his previous one, that of of his owner (antimony), with mercury (= quicksilver). The implications are not completely clear yet... alchemically, since mercury is a liquid metal, it was thought to be transcendent/transformational in some way.
EDIT: whoops! madjack beat me to it! yes, the transformation aspect of mercury fits nicely with the body-snatching ability. The merger of the two symbols seems to link Antimony and Rey more profoundly and probably represents his becoming her familiar. As Hermes/Mercury, Rey may also be a messenger and bearer of knowledge.

Didn't sink in for a while but the one who's apparently making this happen by snapping his fingers is the just-a-translator dude.

I wonder what the little white circle underneath Annie and Reynards symbol circle is. Considering it's blank white, maybe it just represents the toy? I can't imagine the average object would have any sort of representative symbol. If Reynard's new symbol is made from combining his and Annies, maybe it would also change again if he possessed something that does have a symbol?

It's the alchemical symbol for quicksilver, representing his bodysnatching powers, as appropriately linked here: "Cool things I only noticed on being told about them". Thanks . I guess it makes sense that Rey gets his hability from mercury. You couldn't possibly expect the firefox to be powered by chromium... If the mercury one is Coyote's body jumping power, then the third circle might actually be Renard himself. It would be fun to learn that Clippy just fused the power into Rey and part of Annie. First, because Loup asked for that power, and second, because the Annies might be able to tap into it and jump into each other's body

Another alchemical tidbit:
Mercury and Sulfur (a fire element! nice Annie symbolism...) were thought to be two of the primal elements, and that correctly combining them in the correct manner and proportions could transform the mixture into any metal (transformation -> becoming a new element = body snatching? ). Would suggest the merging of some Annie's fire abilities into newly minted familiar Rey could be quite a potent combination....

"Here we go then" is not the best Transformation Catch-Phrase. It's to the point, like "SHAZAM!", but it's no "By the POWER of Grayskull!" Clippy really needs to work on that. The real question is what is Rey's new Power Level? Kat should have a scanner for that.
Though the "familiar" change could have great relevance later, this subplot could all be a distraction from Kat taking a fledgling step towards robo-divinity. I think the more important act is about to start. Hopefully a productive one, for Arthur's sake.

That looked like it hurt a bit. The two symbols combining though is badass.
And, given the flare of fire going on here, it seems to imply that Rey has a bit of access to Annie's powers now that he's her familiar... Might the reverse be possible too? Because I could have sworn the symbol Rey had was actually the symbol representing the body snatching powers, not representing Rey himself... And now the two symbols are overlaid on each other like they're... more equal?
EDIT: Clearly I should read what's already said before posting...

I always kind of assumed that the quicksilver symbol was representative of Renard as a trickster god/fable, not his body-snatching powers. So the changing of symbols would probably just represent his gaining more freedom to be himself, while also remaining a part of Antimony.
Also, I really CAN'T fanboy enough over how INCREDIBLY AWESOME AND BADASS this page looks. I just...the poses, the linework...damn. Well played, Siddell.

Mercury + Antimony = Red Mercury? (In real life it turned out to be a hoax but this is a work of fiction...) Rey looks cool though!!

To me the puzzle about Rey is his shapechanging ability. The Reynard of Belgian-French folklore didn't have it. It isn't identified as a gift Coyote game him (and Coyote still had it after Rey moved into Annie's toy). And it certainly isn't an attribute of the toy. So where does it come from?
