I still think she has a crush on Kamlen because come on he's hot and also she blushed A LOT when she first met him and he has complimented her looks too. There is this too (which corroborates the hospital dream) as if we need further evidence. Annie will clearly never admit it because she didn't even tell Kat. She has probably decided Kamlen will remain a crush and that feels safe to her. I mean, Annie is 15, I certainly behaved like a dork when I had actual crushes on people. I never admitted it to anyone even when it was both obvious and not actually that embarrassing. Being a teen is weird. Interestingly the hospital dream happened after this scene with Annie and Jack so I think she continues to have a crush on Kamlen. She may however also have mixed romantic feelings for Jack and maybe that counts as a "crush"? I'm not sure about the Jones hypothesis. I think Jones just gave Annie her mask in that scene. I think the idea is Annie maybe identifies or envies Jones or wants to be like her. She does trust her a lot with really big things, and she feels safe telling her things she wouldn't tell anyone at the Court or the Forest or even Kat. I don't think that's a crush so much as like maybe a girl-crush (which I am using here to mean a crush on someone you admire / want to emulate rather than be romantic about). In the Jones hypothesis, which I originally meant as a half joke, I can look at that dream page in two ways. One, the way you propose. Two, we see Annie being wooed by Kamlen. Then we see Jones come in, grab Annie by the shoulder, offer a mask, and then Kamlen leaving. Upon actually inspecting it to get the link, there is something there to read into. The moment Jones enters the picture, Kamlen walks away and Annie is left wearing Jones’ ‘face’. It could be read as Annie’s interest in Kamlen dissipating as Jones’ equally ethereal presence takes root in Annie’s mind. Jones’ facial expression is... particular, as well. Dreams are a wonderful literary device. They can mean anything, and, generally, nothing!

Second thought: Courtnie in these last few panels is making facial expressions a bit like Peridot from Steven Universe.

As always, I stand steadfastly by my Annie/Becky Ground ship. I don't think anything more needs to be said about that.
As a side note, I dont't think we've EVER seen Annie quite this embarrassed before. It's pretty weird.

I mean, I've basically had this exact conversation with myself. Seems pretty normal to me.

Why is Annie keeping a cruller on someone, and why is she so embarassed about it?

[Eglamore] was explicitly crossed out when she thought about "boys she knew" after being asked if there was a boy she liked. I also found it pretty funny that according to this panel, even a stuffed wolf toy, a robot, a shadow and a bedsheet phantasm were likelier candidates than Eglamore. Annie must really despise the guy. Hmmm... I'm not entirely convinced. In fact, I'm more inclined to think that he being crossed out actually implies quite the contrary, especially if we consider that the person following immediately after in that lineup (Jack), is the one she names (or, more precisely, dubiously asks) as being "like boy she likes". Coupled with this is that arrow pointer, its movement akin to a bonus game (or slot machine) that seems about to stop at a certain prize/figure, only to land on the next one at the last moment. It had never occured to me that this panel could be read in that way, but yes - the X might indeed mean that she forbids herself from thinking of Eglamore (still strange that others remain included, though, especially Renard...)
I love this page. Annie has a crush! But then it took me getting to the bottom of this thread to realize... there's two of her now, and that's apparently not changing any time soon with the physical contact doing nothing, so..... I feel like there's gonna be drama as to which Annie is gonna go after the person she has a crush on. Probably none. Courtney has obviously not actively gone after the person in at least six months.
So yeah based on the intensity of that reaction I have two general guesses for who the crush is: 1) Somebody a lot older 2) Somebody a lot not human Quite frankly I think madjack might have it. Jones would fulfill both criteria AND looks good at it. Also, she is in a relationship and has other admirers. Drama, baby.

Thinking further, she might also have crossed out Eglamore, because to Annie at this moment he was first and foremost Kat's crush, and she did not want to annoy her friend.

Congrats on the move and the marriage, Tom.
Something that's possibly worth pointing out: in the hospital dream where Zimmy sees Kamlen and then Jones with Annie, Jones appears to be naked. Or at the very least, wearing far less clothes than Annie had seen her wear up to that point.
It would be interesting if Annie's crush was female. We've only ever seen her get obviously blushy around boys so far.

It occurs to me that the two Annies may not be embarrassed in exactly the same way.
F!Annie could be all like, "I'm so embarrassed that I have a crush on X!", but...
C!Annie could be, "I can't believe I was crushing on X six months ago!"

Good catch, I need to re-read AitF, been a while. I also found it pretty funny that according to this panel, even a stuffed wolf toy, a robot, a shadow and a bedsheet phantasm were likelier candidates than Eglamore. Annie must really despise the guy. Now you've got me thinking about the "advice" that followed in that side story, esp with Annie's follow-up question making it seem as though she was mildly half-receptive to the method: Give 'em the cold shoulder and they'll inevitably chase, unless they've taken a shine to someone. ...Anybody seem to fit that bill?
