The first time the author’s note has made me laugh in a while.

I literally love this page. I was almost angry reading it, thinking to myself "Wow, Tom's really falling into some serious cliches here and I'm trusting he knows that and is going to play off of that. Still...I guess we'll see."
Then two panels later I'm literally thinking about the human condition and how we deal with issues that question our entire existence and relationships with others. I can (and I'm sure everyone can) think of a dozen situations where my emotional brain was Pfft!nie and my rational brain was Forest!nie.

Akchually, none of the blame falls to F!Annie here. She was not present during these "trying" times, and as such, can not know if SHE would've reacted the same way as C!Annie. Perhaps there IS something wrong/different between the two of them.
Is it introspection if you're talking to an external you? Or is that outrospection? Extraspection? Endospection?

Perhaps there IS something wrong/different between the two of them. Is it introspection if you're talking to an external you? Or is that outrospection? Extraspection? Endospection? If they are perfect copies of eachother, all talking between them is externalised internal monologue - IF there wasnt the time gap created by expericencing a few months of post apocalyptic siege vs. having a few hours of talk with a mad god.
I think if you separate a person into two and let them experience completely different things, you end up with different people very quick. Depending on this, it is not an introspection anyomre, and more of a synchronizing of knowledge and experiences. Should the annies ever re-merge, this will be even more confusing. Or not at all, because the human brain deals with such inconsistencies every few hours... Its why we can remember a lot of things, but not much of it perfectly.

Paz does have a history of being the one to support Kat. Also, Ominous Ceiling Pipes.

I see the un-water is still doing its thing...now with unsettling vein imitations. If it's still stalking them, the Annies' incremental shift toward being of one mind might be clinched by the un-water creature drowning one of them (maybe physically and etherically). The pure distress of registering your own pain can be strong enough to cut through all manner of stumbling blocks - even discrete "identities."

Wait. A. Minute. Tom, did you just clone your main character and totally wrapped it into plot, just to make some internal monologue without use of thought bubbles, which for some clever reason you don't seem to use in your comic? Oh, You cheeky devil, you!

That pattern of behavior has been present long before Annie's current ordeal. Think back, when was the last time Annie did the emotional support job for her friend? And how many times has Kat conforted and supported Annie in that time? Sure, Annie had a lot on her hands. But now that she's getting better, it's time she started correcting the course.

Stuff like what they are musing on here isn't going to make Paz's threats any less unreasonable. It sounds just a touch transactional.

Differences between Annies:
Last panel -> Forest Annie has rounder nose, smaller eyes, shorter chin. Almost seems like she lost weight. Guess not eating anything for months will do this to you
Second to last panel -> They're right next to each other but Forest Annie seems a tiny bit taller. They're the same height on every other panel except the second, where Forest Annie is taller as well, so I'm not really sure if it's just a stylistic choice or something that the author is trying to tell us. (She's obviously taller in the second panel but Court Annie might have walked a step further, we can't see their feet so can't say for sure.)
Though all in all I guess this further proves that Court Annie is an imperfect clone that didn't age in the six months while Forest Annie was talking to Loup

Now that they're getting along the twin Annies thing is becoming a lot more fun.
Although I do hope they'll actually acknowledge that when it comes to friendship they can be unintentionally neglectful.

Well, shit. Let's just assume fire elementals generate their own light source or that they can see in the dark with their fire eyes because pipes aren't lamps

Imagine if they really are monitoring them upstairs. The touching smiles fading into a full on facepalm at those words in the last panel would be hilarious.

Well, shit. Let's just assume fire elementals generate their own light source or that they can see in the dark with their fire eyes because pipes aren't lamps The unrealistic lighting in areas without light is a conceit among visual story telling. We see it in movies and TV all the time. Tom could have gone with a black and white monotone, the girls could be using flames to light the way or the tunnels have some light source we don't see. The first time I went through the page the last line read as, "Or maybe Paz is just being adorable."

It's working, they're working together, look, one taught the other a fire trick! THEY'RE TALKING ABOUT FEELINGS GUYS, Paz, your distraction before worked! OK, let's turn up the volume, to know what exactly they're saying.... Ah FUCKING HECK, CARVER!!

Something notable on this page, Court Annie says "add to our concerns", after usually being strict in claiming all aspects of her life as her own. Seems to me like a sign that she's beginning to treat Forest Annie as the real thing, with (for the most part) shared experiences and feelings.

I enjoy that they are opening up to each other, and are willing to accept the other as themself.
I also enjoy that we get the chance to experience Annie's inner emotions.
I am however disturbed somewhat by the self-denial of Annies', and worried how she will be able to handle outer-body reinforcement of her self-denial.

Seems to me like a sign that she's beginning to treat Forest Annie as the real thing, with (for the most part) shared experiences and feelings. She's copying Forest Annie's explicit switch to the plural in the previous panel: "me - or us." But the fact that Court Annie is following Forest Annie in that switch does indeed signal that she's accepting her. The water looks like gravity goes down at floor level and up at ceiling level, with perhaps a smooth transition along the walls. I'm still puzzled that neither Annie seems to have noticed anything strange about it.
