So this is Ysengrin, NOT Coyote.
Frankly, I'm shocked.

Drunk with power. He doesn't seem to have much concern for Annie anymore.

New theory: Coyote genuinely didn't plan this to happen. He was arrogant and thought Ysengrin would continue to obey him if given his strength. He was not right. RIP, comic's most interesting character. We hardly knew ya.

Not sure if this is a rhetorical statement from Ys or if he genuinely thinks Coyote didn't was too deranged/infantile/whatever to know what his power could do. I assume the former but if he met Coyote around the founding of the Court that's really not a spectacularly long time so it could be the latter. Ys doesn't seem like the champion of figuring things and people out, particularly through secondhand stories.
Still waiting for the villain speech/ultimatum but sounds like he's nearly ready for it.

So this is Ysengrin, NOT Coyote. Frankly, I'm shocked. Frankly, I'm not. I've been saying since the beginning that this is clearly Ysengrin, not some mishmash of the two. Ding dong, Coyote's dead. (At least until the court uses the millennium items to resurrect him)

I'm of the mind that it could have gone either way, personally! I'm still waiting for the other shoe to drop.
And will it take seeing Annie scared of him (again... hah) for him to snap out of it? Is there no snapping out of it at this point? Excited to see what comes next. I'm sure the Court has something up their sleeve for this possible contingency.

(ignore all the plot armor she has for this hypothetical)

Ysengrin thinks Coyote didn't know what he was capable of. Coyote, who created the Shadow Men, who carved the Annan Waters. Ohhh Ys. You're looking a lot like Jon Snow right now. I feel even more convinced now that this was a big theatrical stunt meant to teach Ysengrin a lesson about his place relative to humans. By the end of this, two magic doggos will be tamed, instead of just one.

Checkov's gun. Could Ysengrin going berserk like this possibility that Coyote gane Annie the Coyote Tooth for? He did emphasize that Ysengrin was not to know of it.

And then the robots start pouring out and rebuilding everything two seconds after Y destroys it. Frustrating him even more. More destruction, more, bigger rebuilding.
Oh, and also, I want Annie bipped behind Y in the sky for an air-butt-smacking. That'll put him straight! He should listen to the Forest medium!

If there is one lesson for Ys to learn that Coyote more than anyone is extremely aware of, it's the obvious consequence of getting what you want. "What Next?" Edit: Doubly highlighted with his lack of an answer when directly asked about it by Annie.

So this is Ysengrin, NOT Coyote. Frankly, I'm shocked. Well, this is something that THINKS it is Ysengrin, not Coyote Someone already pointed out the dead goose story at the very beginning of all this. Excited to see what comes next. I'm sure the Court has something up their sleeve for this possible contingency. "But sir, we have never finished safety tests on that thing!" "Screw the safety test, we need to deploy NOW!"

So this is Ysengrin, NOT Coyote. This is not Coyote. We still don't know if it's Ysengrin. The way I see it, this may be an entirely new being, composed of Coyote's and Y's joined memories, or something.

daaaaaaaang, I guess it isn't Coyote in there. Welp, there goes my theory.
Today I learned that in one of the Reynard stories Ysengrin loses one ear because Reynard tricks him into getting into a fight with a she-ape.
I suspect there are many dimensions to these characters that we do not quite well understand, and hidden conflicts, it being the case that we met all the canids quite a while after they had begun interacting. I wonder if Coyote or someone else had elaborately tricked Ysengrin long ago and it just went quite wrong. Now that he has all his memories back Ysengrin may be a very different creature from the friend Annie made. Reynardine, too, I expect may have had a more elaborate backstory than we might have guessed. I wonder if Reynardine will unleash any trickster powers he might still latently have on trying to help get rid of Ysengrin.

(At least until the court uses the millennium items to resurrect him) Assuming it will. (It would have to be a desperate situation indeed, since it means they'd be stuck with Coyote and his sneaky schemes all over again, which clearly aren't to the Court's benefit - or anyone's benefit, other than his own. He'd probably put the Forest in danger as well if it allowed him to get what he wanted.) And I didn't find the revelation that this is Ysengrin rather than Coyote shocking. As I mentioned before, I think this being Ysengrin rather than Coyote fits the opening of the chapter (the focus on Ysengrin's desires and internal conflicts - between his anger and resentment at the human race and his developing fatherly concern for Annie) better. If it's Ysengrin, then we're seeing the continuing development of this character. If it's Coyote, then it would just be Coyote engaging in clever stratagems, with Ysengrin's story becoming little more than a plot-device to let Coyote get what he wanted, cut off and unresolved.

I wonder so many things. What percent of this new creature is Coyote and what percent is Ysengrin? What's the purpose of the trees and the new bridge? Why attack the court now - is there some strategic advantage? Why does Ysengrin seemingly have such clarity of mind, but still lacks any concern for Annie? Will anyone be killed in this attack? Will anyone *important* be killed? Is William an elf? Someone help me.

I wonder how this compares to when Coyote knocked down a building or two, when Tony returned and didn't allow Annie to visit the Forest. A few pages back, the characters seemed surprised by the robots' actions. Didn't they act that way during Coyote's tantrum? Maybe, the "tree growth" was seen as more "disruptive" than knocking over a building. If that's true, it's rather telling about the Court.
I'm sure the Court has some plans for this contingency. Plus, there's Coyote's tooth. But of all the things that might oppose Y 2.0, there's always Renard. It would be interesting plot-wise, and parallel their folk-stories.

They'll need to build Renard up if he's to face Ysengrin (though him as Ysengrin's opponent would indeed be appropriate, thanks to their coming from the same legend).

* All of Coyotes gifts have a flaw. Now, what will this be with his strength ? * Does Coyote know how these flaws will 'work', or are they surprises to be discovered ? * Why created Coyote the ravine in the first place ? * Who are 'the worthless', from the chapter-title ?

Random piece of speculation that just hit me(and which I do not believe will happen unless Ysengrin goes totally crazy):
Renard will defeat Ysengrin; he can possess anything with eyes, Ysengrin included.
