They don't look as if they are in a hurry though.

They don't look as if they are in a hurry though. Not combat models. They're probably going to a rally point to wait for dispatch orders and/or gear up. In the absence of orders, the rally point may be set as the disturbance(s).

Voltron time! Bonus point if the 100 mts height MechaDefender turns to Kat, extends its robotic hand and says: " Come with me if you want to live"

Is it just about Ysengrin though? I wonder if we'll see more about the robots this chapter... Everyone looks down on the help.

I wonder how deep those protocols go - I mean, Robot is still running off standard Court processor, right?

I wonder how deep those protocols go - I mean, Robot is still running off standard Court processor, right? Plus a funny little add-on. Robot may be running on a left-over Motorola 68008 modified for the Sinclair QL. (Which could mean Doctor Disaster took over the Court IT program from Uncle Clive!)

Also, will this finally be the time to shine for BOXBOT?

Kat seems to have no issue with the giant tree rising from the direction of the forest, and her only issue with the giant tree rising from Young's Park is that it is in the wrong place. I guess Kat thinks everything has its place as long as it is in its place.

In the absence of orders, the rally point may be set as the disturbance(s). I'm guessing they're already being over-ridden and given directions by automatic Court emergency response systems. They'll probably start trying to clear debris and cordon off damaged areas.

Nooooo! I was kidding! This probably won't end well for the robots. Unless they're equipped with even cooler surprises than the laser cows.

I think the funny little add-on is part of the standard Court processor the Robots have been manufacturing for themselves. We haven't seen any other robot's chip that I recall, except for the ship. The ship's CPU was plain brown all the way across, though, so... Anyway, since we've learned about the robot coding language, I've thought that the blue bit there was what contained the programming sigils for the robots.

All the way back on p. 225: "It's a wonder my fool cousin hasn't already retaliated. He must be up to something..."And so he was! As to the robots, though: they make me uncomfortable because if a shadow-man got control of Robot originally, and Ysengrin gave him a seed for an arm, and then Robot came back and this whole time has stalked Kat and started a massive cult making everyone obsessed with Kat (and more etherically minded as a result), is it possible that Coyotegrin, who messed with Robot when he got into the forest, is now controlling them rather than the Court?

Doubtful. Robot's body from the time got paperclipped, and the arm got planted. Robot's current body is entirely custom built by Kat, so Coyote would have had to mess with his programming directly... followed by him them messing with a bunch of the other robots? Besides, screwing with tech doesn't seem to be Forest style.

So is Coysengrin controlling the robots? Is this an automatic response? Or is this the court's doing? Questions, questions.

Besides, screwing with tech doesn't seem to be Forest style. But what about the added blue part Kat discovered before putting Robot on the docking station? We've been assuming Coyote and Ysengrin knew nothing about Court tech, but isn't it possible they actually do know about it, and indeed had taken one of the TicTocs much earlier to examine it? Or perhaps they built the TicTocs themselves (and not Kat, as some of us have been suspecting)? Remember Zimmy and Gamma refer to the TicTocs as the "thousand eyes" (which is just how many eyes Coyote might have). Maybe this should be a Wildspec...

I've long thought the blue part is the bit where you get the runic programming in that the robots created in order to replicate themselves. In Deigo's machines, it would be the ceramic heart Kat examined. At the time, Kat was totally unfamiliar with how the Robots worked, after all, so of course she wouldn't recognize it. Really, any spec on the TicTocs is wild spec because of how little anyone in or out of the universe knows about them except for Tom :V

My first inclination was that Coyote/Ysengrin was somehow influencing the robots, but then I thought the Court would make more sense. And now I really don't know. It could be yet something else, too.

My first inclination was that Coyote/Ysengrin was somehow influencing the robots, but then I thought the Court would make more sense. And now I really don't know. While the Court's control does make more sense, I had one scary thought. We know that the robots' technology contains a strong etheric element. What if that makes them receptive to Ysengrin--with-Coyote's-powers' abilities? (The even scarier ramification is that, given how much of the Court's technology stems from the ether rather than regular technology, that would give Ysengrin a really big foothold in the place.)
