For a moment I thought that Surma was going to light up the poor bug. Glad she didn't.
New theory: This super important observation project is really just a ruse to have perceptive and clever students occupied so they don't nose around in the school as much.

If this didn't come about as a result of the death of Anjas relative, I'd honestly start thinking the court set this up via some kind of future sight with the intention of getting these two together for...some reason.

It took me an embarrassingly long time to spot the difference between the last two panels.

I'm just going to be blunt, I'm finding this chapter really, really boring.

For a moment I thought that Surma was going to light up the poor bug. Glad she didn't. It's a situation where you really, really can't bless every sneeze. After a few days in this place her choice was to go nuts or learn to ignore small stuff. New theory: This super important observation project is really just a ruse to have perceptive and clever students occupied so they don't nose around in the school as much. Or this. If this didn't come about as a result of the death of Anjas relative, I'd honestly start thinking the court set this up via some kind of future sight with the intention of getting these two together for...some reason. If you mean "they really look forward for the hypothetical Kwisatz Haderach", just say so. Quite possibly they do. And it's bound to end "as always".

I suspect Coyote forgot he was a dead branch and started to scratch himself. I also note the warpaint is back on.

I wonder what's the significance of the fact that Surma doesn't even notice the bug. Surma's eyes are a slightly different color than Antimony's. It's not even really noticable unless you look very close. I just used the eyedropper tool in Paint to find out. Left Annie, right Surma.

The grayer color kind of fits with Surma's Ether motif, of being more of a smokey fire. I wonder if it was intentional.

I wonder what's the significance of the fact that Surma doesn't even notice the bug. Her state of mind is closer to Tony's, like, she is beginning to see the world through his eyes. Also, being at least a bit atracted to someone, makes a person to mimic the other's behaviour.

I wonder what's the significance of the fact that Surma doesn't even notice the bug. She was also dreaming of bugs, obvious that the original bug dropped parasites on her that have infected her brain and are mind controlling her, and this new bug is now getting loaded up with genetic material from the tiny bugs inside her so it can fly off and infect other humans. For more info, please see the Aliens movies, the Thing, Star Trek 2, the Wrath of Khan, They came from within, The Puppet Masters, Night of the Creeps...

Surma has overcome her fear/disgust of insects. Her experience with the bug "givin birth" helped along, no doubt.
Now to the omega device. Is it a gravity manipulation thing? The branch was pulled down, now it's side branch is being pulled downwards. Some kind of other telekinetic manipulation perhaps?

The branch is clearly a spy for the Court that is mind-controlling every single character in this comic, even itself.

Okay the fact that Tony elected to redraw the entire panel even though it's the same shot is driving me slightly to madness. There's basically tiny differences in every single detail between the two panels. The branch moved, fine, but also is the knot slightly deeper now? Did the rock shift closer by a millimeter? Are those roots flexing? Or is all this just the wobbliness of art? ahhhhhh!
Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the dedication to making every panel original art, but when the goal is to emphasize one tiny change maybe it's not the best strategy. Unless...it wasn't one tiny change? In which case it's a perfectly fine strategy!

It could just be the sepia like overlay of this chapter that's giving the eyes a darker hue. Though I'd like it to be linked to her smokey nature.

Okay the fact that Tony elected to redraw the entire panel even though it's the same shot is driving me slightly to madness. Tony? Let us be honest. Tony is exactly the sort of guy who, if book characters were sentient and could see what their authors were doing, and if he didn't like Wednesday's page, invent a magic machine to allow him to cross universes just so he could redraw the panel.
