So you have. You might want to update the title to include the page number though. (Usual format [1869] <title> ) "Maybe I am crazy" Safari in haste repent at leisure, Surma. Meanwhile, don't pee in the Amazon.

Thank you, I've never done this before. Hopefully I updated it correctly. It hasn't changed, yet. Edit the first post's title to include the page number at the start, like the other ones before. It's the Subject-field above the main content field.

Nice, so the Court has enough resources for rather modern planes, licensed pilots, an airstrip, trips to the Amazon,...
What kind of mythological creature will they encounter?

I am really loving the 70s amber patina in this story. It's reminiscent of photographs taken in that period.

Surma: "Hey, there, I just joined you, and this is crazy.... but I'm not Donnie, talk to me maybe?"
I apologize.

I'd rather expect "Am I already crazy?" here. Then again, Anthony catching bugs may be entertaining. I am really loving the 70s amber patina in this story. It's reminiscent of photographs taken in that period. I think it's 1970-s, not 1870-s. =)

Improperly stored decades-old color photos do fade and occasionally acquire yellowish tint over time.

Surma, from your previous sandals-and-jeans combo, I can confirm you are crazy.
I'm curious about this entomology trip. The Court has authorized it, and Tony even has a private plane and car of his own. So either the Court is paying for this, or Tony is insanely rich and we just didn't know it. I wonder if the Court wants Tony to find something in particular.

uh oh. Tony in not awkward casual clothes actually looks really good. And is Surma secretly a webcomic artist? She seems to be wearing the official webcomic artist hat. (Props to JelloApocalypse's Welcome to Webcomics for the joke)

Even Tony looks kind of cute. Boring but cute. Wild spec: Surma is going to cut her hair this chapter. ...and Tony even has a private plane and car of his own. So either the Court is paying for this, or Tony is insanely rich and we just didn't know it. It's the Court that is insanely rich. They send pupils home for summer on a Learjet.

Ahahaha! Commercial flights from London to Manaus, Brazil, seem to be about 15 hours if you subtract the layover time. I don't know if a direct flight would be any quicker, or if it would be impossible for a plane that size. In any case, Surma has had a looooooooooooooong stretch of awkward silence to rethink her decision.

Have you seen old family photos? Improperly stored decades-old color photos do fade and occasionally acquire yellowish tint over time. I suppose I have dated myself with that comment! But yes, photo-pictures from the 1970s get this yellowish-orangeish tint, and it's not sepia because sepia is desaturated. This is how I've seen my father's life from before I was born, through these tinted photos. It's incredibly apt to see the same thing in the comic. Almost as if Antimony is looking at yellowed photos of her parents' youth. Basically, just google "70s photos" and you'll see what I mean. A few examples here.

Surma may be right. She may be crazy. But it just may be a lunatic Anthony's looking for.

How about this?
We know that Surma has strong etheric affinity (which gives her an innate understanding of nature), but has stated she feels that she struggles academically (i.e. with the scientific end of things). Tony has no etheric affinity, but unlike Anja and Donny (who are mainly focused purely on tech), he is clearly drawn to trying to understand nature from the scientific end of things.
In that sense, both Surma and Tony are in a position to complement one another in understanding the things about which they are passionate, and help each other with the areas in which they feel they are lacking on their own. I can easily see something growing from the way they work together on this trip.

Calling it now: There'll be a situation of high vulnerability (i.e. sickness/fighting with natives) for one of them (most drama points if it's Surma) where the other tends to (her) maladies in a most risky way (going to the other side of a dangerous gorge to get the roots/plants for medicine, etc), thus, crafting intimacy and admiration when there is none right now.
You cant beat a classic.

Pulling this back here for a moment, sorry for the necro. It isn't one, but the design is still really, really bugging me due to seeming anachronistic for what you'd expect to see in the period (late 70s or 80s). Very organic, aerodynamic lines more what you'd expect from a modern SUV than the typical vehicles for this work at the time (which looked like this, or this, or maybe this). The closest visual approximation I can find thus far is a dune buggy conversion - possibly of the Volkswagen Beetle or CJ, which are NOT what you want to be driving in a tropical rainforest. You at the very least, want something waterproof.

the design is still really, really bugging me... Looks a bit like a Suzuki SJ30, which is about right for the time period (early '80s)...

Is more obvious on the following page, note position of lights (vertical vs horizontal in Jimny) and shape (not a rectangle). The other complication being that Brazil banned car imports from 1974 to 1990, seriously limiting sales to locally-built cars - short of the Court employing some graft to ship one in (not impossible).
