Finally! Mention of a doctor.
Still want to hear the guides' issues with helping Andrew. Why do they feel they owe Annie nothing?

Could you edit the comic's number in the title?

Kat is going to do or say something. Mecha-God Kat might shake a couple of psychopomps like glowsticks, they get brighter when you do that, I hear.

Smitty is clearly in pain. That's a good thing. It means he can still feel pain. This happened because he was helping me do your work! He shouldn't have to pay for this! Very much this.

Still want to hear the guides' issues with helping Andrew. Why do they feel they owe Annie nothing? Indeed. When Annie was angry with with them for not showing up to collect Surma, it turned out she'd been misinformed. Hopefully there's something concrete behind this (whether Muut relents or not).

This happened because he was helping me do your work! He shouldn't have to pay for this! Very much this. Not only that: it happened because Muut bent the rules knowingly in order to rope a mortal child into doing psychopomp work, and now a mortal child is possibly dying because of it. It's not a stretch of Annie to demand that Muut step up.

Kat is going to do or say something. Kat, Robot-goddess: Screw these puny mortals, I can save him, I shall make Smitty the ultimate cyborg! Melding machine and flesh, he shall be my ultimate creation! Also allows for large number of robocop jokes.

Oh, that look on Kat spells no good for Muut!! You gonna get bapped again, mister!!! Yes, I rather think he is. And this time, I rather think it's actually going to hurt him - which will come as a surprise to everyone involved, not least of all Kat.

Aha. Parley needs Smitty in order to be able to teleport well. Meaning that if Parley leaves to the doctor just with Smitty, everyone else is going to be stuck down there. Hence all of them need to leave at the same time.

Calling it: Kat goes to boop Muut again, only to find that, as a robot deity, she can send him flying into the cliff-face behind the psychopomps. Everyone is completely stunned by this turn of events, and Muut ends up being like "okay, damn kid, I'll fix him, just don't hurt me again!"

Considering they have teleportation powers at their disposal thus making time not an issue, I really don't think staying there to have a discussion is the best plan, Annie.

Two things:
1. The Guides are forbidden to interfere with the living. They made a desperate loophole because of Jeanne and her boy-friend being trapped in an unnatural limbo, but that's about as far as they can bend the rules. Healing Andrew would mean breaking the rules entirely.
2. Andrew chose freely to help Annie; the Guides did not compel him to help.

Making it clear that it's not just a case of healing Andrew - they also have to find someone who won't tell on them to the Court, since a seriously wounded Andrew could alarm and anger the Court administration almost as much as a dead Andrew could. Unfortunately, not that many candidates around. Coyote might be able to do it, but he's far too untrustworthy; he'd almost certainly exact a heavy price. Any medical personnel at the Court (including Anthony - who probably isn't up to it any more) would probably have to pass the word on about Andrew's injury. And I don't think there's anyone else.

Let's hope something changes their minds. That final look from Kat, though. There are parts of Robot laying about. Could she juryrig something together to "help"?

Robby, in Paz's lab, would be a good candidate for providing medical assistance with the least chance of informing the Court. For the rest, from the 'pomps' point of view, Annie does look unreasonable. They didn't require her to help them, they didn't require her friends to help her, and out of anyone you could find, I suspect they know the best that people die. At least Smitty is dying having spent his life righting a great wrong, and there is honor in that. He will help ensure the world continues to spin. ...I don't think he'll die. I'm not sure what intervention will save him though.
