Tom is trolling by letting us wait so long now, I'm fairly sure that Smitty will live.

Silence, indeed. (I got the final panel of Annie staring, but suspect the rest of my speculation went off with Jeanne.)
At least Tom answered the question about the boat!

And with that there is nothing left of Jeanne and the green guy.
The last frame looks like it should have an end of chapter symbol.
Which would be fitting, since there is nothing left of the chapoh wait how about everyone's favourite court medium that we've been banging on about for the last week? Hopefully he's fine and we'll see this on Friday.

Tom is trolling by letting us wait so long now, I'm fairly sure that Smitty will live. He died, and we did nothing. He is best mates with a guide, though, so at least etherization is on the house. Even if she is a lousy guide. Once again Annie fails to take the deceased's final record. The ROTD librarian won't be happy, but what would you expect from a cheating student?

Now Tom is officially trolling us! Also, congratulations to Daedalus on becoming the TOP GUNNER.

Annie: "... and that's the story of how Andrew was killed. The End." The Headmaster looks at her in horror, mouth agape.
With the exception of a skewered Eyebrows, that went a lot smoother than anyone could imagine, considering all the psychopomps that have "failed" before them. I'm guessing, that the other shoe will drop at some point. Hopefully, not on Andrew.

What are the chances that we are not seeing what is going to happen to Andrew until Monday? Given the current level of trolling, I'd say quite high.

Stop saying "Tom is trolling", that is not what "trolling" means.

Stop saying "Tom is trolling", that is not what "trolling" means. Actually that usage of trolling is in common and accepted usage now. Being overly prescriptive about how language works (especially about an extra neologistic and new meaning of an old word) is incorrect and kinda unnecessary. Language and the meanings of words change. 20 years ago "trolling" meant to search for something, eg when fishing.

Somebody's gonna have to explain what happened to the boat and motor... Kat: "Aw man, I lost my pre-emissions 2-stroke outboard." Years from now what is left of the motor is found on the shore. Paz turns it into a necklace.

Andrew just cannot ever enter the ether again. I hope we get a resolution to this burning question on Friday.

Somebody's gonna have to explain what happened to the boat and motor... Well, something has to be done. The Wood doesn't like having appliances wash up on its shore. Although Annie is their medium now, so this is presumably easily arranged.

Bah, I may almost bet we're going to have 3 more pages of Annie thinking or flashbacking or just Walking back to the other guy/gals, and then "Oh, is Andrew ok?"

A somber expression. I'm worried the next page will be her turning around to escort Andrew.

A somber expression. I'm worried the next page will be her turning around to escort Andrew. yeah, I'm kind of guessing it will go something like this. probably not this exactly, but similar. I imagine someone from the ROTD is going to make an appearance soon. However, I am still clinging to that little strand of hope that the next page will be "meanwhile, at the hospital they immediately bipped to..."

That's the look Annie gets when she's feeling something she wants to ignore/suppress. My guess is that she's satisfied that psychopomp instinct that keeps pulling at her and she's still in denial that she's a psychopomp.
Are there any fire-related afterlife guides in mythology?

It feels good to get some resolution, but I bet Annie turns around to see another psychopomp by Smitty's side. Hopefully not on business?
...Nobody is happy about this.

Are there any fire-related afterlife guides in mythology? One of Shiva's forms is a guide IIRC, not sure if there is any fire connection to that form, but Shiva does have fire connections. Also there were a few cultures who cremated their dead so there could be a elemental fire connection from that.

I do not understand why everyone is so concerned about Smitty. He will make it or not as the Story dictates. Focusing on Annie's job is thus the important thing. (And given that we have Coyote nearby, saving Smitty is something that a deity should be capable of. Not to mention a friend present who can grow organic limbs.)
I am hoping, though, that we get to see Jeannie's final record. (Mostly to show that Annie is competent and partly because it would be interesting.)

Seriously, I feel like her blank expression on the current page is it dawning on her that she forgot to do the thing she expressly stated she didn't want to forget to do

Or now that Jeanne and her lover are gone Smitty will be out of the ether and the knife and wound will just disappear just like the scratch on Annie's cheek. Andrew just cannot ever enter the ether again. And that's why Annie is hurrying so much, so that Smitty doesn't die in the ether!

Just noticing something noteworthy: the brickwork of the bridge is reaching all the way down. How it was laid without disturbing Jeanne - we may never know.
