Always with the mindwarping interruptions! Bad as ad breaks.
If Jeanne gets sucked into D-space, I can imagine a slightly distracted Kat getting her to 'do something useful and hold these' as she tinkers with the lock (Jeanne, of course, sees what Annie sees.)

I can't help but wonder if the next comic will just be the kids, back in the dorms or somewhere safe, recounting how this whole thing wrapped up.

I guess teleportation was a known ability in Gunnerkrigg Court at the time of the divide. Getting poked in the psyche by lock picks seems new however.

So... is the fight about to be over, or will there be a catch once Kat opens the lock? WEEKEND CLIFFHANGER!

Does this mean you think that the thing holding Green Elf in stasis literally exists within Jeanne? Wow, the implications.

Still no Coyote Tooth, though. I doubt the fight is even close to over.
She just realized, that she's not wearing any pants. Jeanne: "I've been in my nightgown this whole time? Idiot! All those psychopomps must have thought, that I was a dolt."

I'm really interested in that second-last panel. It looks like something - a crack, window, something like that - manifesting in the air right in front of Jeanne. It's not where I would expect it if it was just some comic splat indicating surprise.

Well, looks like she's feeling what Kat and Annie are up to. Theory: When she meets Annie to take her into the ether, Jeanne will reveal that she crossed to the other shore (title drop!) to mark her cheek, hoping to be freed. Similarly in coward heart when Parley says Jeanne could have killed them in a heartbeat, it was a ploy to have them rescue her. Further theory: the next chapter will open with the fallout/chaos caused by the barrier between the Court and Forrest being removed. Quite possibly the Court will be overrun by tree-dogs or creatures looking for help. The thinking is that Steadman and crew had a reason for doing this, even (especially!) given the cost and shame involved.

Jeanne, I hate to say it, but just because you know a person can teleport doesn't make it any less of an advantage for them. Unless she has something else in mind. At last Parley threw that pommel. Son of a...

Well, seems like GreenGuy could have been "freed" (die, and be taken into the ether), maybe he is willing to, but all the rage of Jeanne is about NOT letting him go. So, Jeanne is the KeyHolder that maintais her "loved one" on chains, just for the sake of not beiing alone.

It's probably the soul-lockpicking, but it would be interesting if she was faking it to get Parley to come to her too.

"All those psychopomps must have thought that I was a dolt." "...so I killed them. Problem solved." I've got to admire that kind of direct solution to one's problems.

But would they have called it "teleporting" in the 1700s or whenever Jeanne was supposed to have lived? The earliest uses of that word were in the late 1800s (thanks, OEDOnline!). Then again we seem to be living in Jeanne's thoughts, so if that's the modern English translation of whatever phrase she would have been thinking, I suppose I can't pick that nit too much. Jeanne, I hate to say it, but just because you know a person can teleport doesn't make it any less of an advantage for them. Unless she has something else in mind. I was just thinking – she's an immortal rage ghost. Any time for Parley to show her hand would have been too early if her present form can die and Jeanne's can't. Which means she's stalling for time, and Jeanne should have figured that out by now and started looking for whatever Parley is protecting. Lazy, Jeanne, lazy. Also I'm enjoying the visual callback to this moment.

And, as some readers have pointed out, Diego's clothes look far more recent than the 18th century. I don't think we'll ever be able to pin down just when the Founders lived.

I'd also like to remind all y'all complaining about how well George is doing that it's a classic Shounen Fighting Manga trope to have the underdog protagonist get in a series of good hits and look like they're winning for a sec before the super powerful antagonist they're fighting gets up and Gets Serious. Do... do I get half a cookie?

"All those psychopomps must have thought that I was a dolt." "...so I killed them. Problem solved." I've got to admire that kind of direct solution to one's problems. Like Hetty, Jeanne has solutions Anyhow, even though it looks like Kat and Annie are about to win, it's not over 'till it's over. There are plenty of ways things could go wrong, even briefly, that would allow Jeanne to get another stab in at Parley. What if the elf guy immediately attacks Kat upon being unlocked (could he short-circuit her with his water powers?) Based on page count, I'm guessing that there are still at least a dozen-ish pages left in this chapter, so there will be some additional delay before Jeanne can be brought into the ether. It won't be long in archive or book form, but it could be awhile for those reading only three pages a week. My current guess is that this chapter will end with Jeanne's defeat, either just as or immediately before Annie emerges from the arrow and prepares to take Jeane and her lover onwards. Next chapter will probably involve the Final Records of Jeanne and the elf, and the rest of the book will be the fallout from Jeanne's removal. I can't wait to be proven utterly and completely wrong.
