...In stickman format. I was hoping some people could join in an create a thread for panel redraws, it's always exciting seeing what people make out of this comic, even if you're a poop like me.

How about tagging people who would like to participate and picking the panel they have to redraw? Would somebody be up for that? I'd like to try this as well but I don't have the time to go through the archive looking for some special panel I'd want to redraw.

Sure, I'll probably stake a tab at it.

This ain't some doctored-up Estes Comanche with a D engine. I may have gone overboard a little bit.
Thoughts: Could have been executed better. The drawing wasn't great (cityscapes aren't my thing) and I could have had more frames, and I thought about having the image flip-flop back and forth after the rocket fired like a loose bowstring but decided that was too much work. I forgot to make a save before I merged the layers so even doing the three frames for the rocket firing required more manual work than it should have. If it were a static image then I probably would have redone just about everything but the stars (and maybe that too) but for an animation the quality is adequate.

Oh, also feel free to ping me with requests. I specialize in natural landscapes but I'm game to try anything.

Oooh, good idea! I'll probably attempt that one sometime this weekend.

Completed. Images aren't loading on Proboards for me, so here's the link: imgur.com/HXcDE6hUpdated version, with working BBCode courtesy of Daedalus: Now with 50% more Guassian blur! Sticking my nose in here with a redraw of the panel that convinced me I was going to love this comic [images] Alright, so finally got around to trying out Mischief, the free version. Thoughts under the spoiler. Pros: Worked with my tablet right off the bat. Probably the best tool for sketching that I've encountered so far, beating out Paint.net, Gimp, Photoshop (CS2), and Artrage. Infinite campus was a neat touch, but what really sold me was how great the tablet interface feels. Cons: It's not actually an image editor. It can't do half the stuff Paint.net can do, let alone a professional tool like Gimp or Photoshop (although PDN has some tools Gimp doesn't.) This is what I drew to test it out. I get a hand cramp while shading on my tablet, perhaps I'd be more charitable if not for that. imgur.com/UNNrqCE Will I continue using it? Probably, for specific applications, in tandem with a more capable application. Is it worth $25? Nope. On a side note, did you draw your avatar, and was it in Mischief?

A MONTH+ LATER -- sorry for the big delay, I stopped visiting the forum for a while! Alright, so finally got around to trying out Mischief, the free version. Thoughts under the spoiler. Probably, for specific applications, in tandem with a more capable application. Is it worth $25? Nope. On a side note, did you draw your avatar, and was it in Mischief? I agree with both your pros and cons above. Mischief is tops at sketching and a great tool for my number #1 use of it, which is laying out, drawing, and inking my comic, but it's not an editing tool. Not having to worry about the size of the page when I do layouts is a big help, and so is being able to change the scale on a drawing/part of a drawing without losing line quality. I love the line quality when doing final inks. I know plenty of people who use it for coloring, but I rarely do. The issue with all the lines being vectors is that when you color in a section, the program isn't reading it as "a solid unit of color", but rather "many separate lines wedged close together". Which means that when you export it, what you thought was a block of color ends up speckled with white pixels as each vector line is converted to rastor. (So essentially, an experience a lot like inking by hand and scanning it.) This infuriated me, thus I end up doing my coloring mainly in FireAlpaca and, occasionally, in Krita, both of which are free. Of the two, FireAlpaca is more user-friendly and straightforward, but like Mischief, it's more for drawing than editing. Krita.... well, it's got so many features, I'm still trying to figure it out. Thus, my avatar was drawn in Mischief and colored in FireAlpaca

Paint.net lets you do some really unique things, but other things it does no better than MSpaint. Gimp is glitchy and doesn't like my tablet. Not for a while, though, I'm pretty busy these days.
