Still greatly bothers me that she didn't push the Rey issue at all...
She presumably has a limited time span before the control is transferred.
Glad to see that Annie (claims) she will do something against her father.
Odd that taking Rey wasn't that moment of rebellion.

With the simple suggestion that Annie hide a device capable of communication with her best friend from her own father, I hope Kat has sewn some seeds of rational thinking behind Annie's mask.

Indeed! Well, I see Rey is on top of Annie's open-topped box.... *sigh* At least the girls are a united front and Kat is going to help schlep things. Sometimes the best ideas come from talking while walking. There's hope.

Fourth panel's breaking my heart.
I would hope Kat's decided to ease into the whole 'screw your dad getting Rey' thing. I can't imagine she'd see Renard's contract as an acceptable loss, and she might have figured that the direct approach is not going to work in this case.

I'm hoping that emotional forehead contact means that Annie ISN'T going to immediately give up the radio, and all that.
Still a bit concerned about Rey's future though, Y'know? Maybe Kat will try to impress more of the wrongness of the situation on Annie and try to sway her current course on the way/at Annie's...Accomodations.

this is unbearable. reminds me of the stories of domestic abuse and the people who think "if only I do as I am told things will be ok". no. things will not be ok. cause the m or f creep who is abusing you is getting their kicks from the abuse. they will seek out anything to torture you. Kat is being a good friend. Her only fault is not seeing what this is. Does she have experience with abuse situations? I don't think so. Her family is the loving, nurturing kind. Please Kat get Jones.

Fourth panel's breaking my heart. Aw, to me it is bittersweet. Sad because it ever needed to happen, but sweet because of the love, trust, and grounding it conveys. And look, see that final panel? How long has it been since we've seen Annie smile?

I'm still a bit concerned about last page, where Annie's lips look wrong, like drawn off.
I feel like if it were some basic error, Tom would have fixed it by now. It might be, but I hoping it's not some subtle indicator that Annie's seeming slow ascent back to the land of the sane is just deceit intended to stop Kat from potentially continuing to inconvenience her father.

Annie may still be in outer space, but she is no longer totally alone, spinning out of control. I like this - Kat is the mission control for Antimony who is in outer (head)space. "Ground Katrol to Major Annie, your circuit's dead, is there something wrong?". Triple bummed about Renard though. While there is still time for action I'm kinda losing hope that he will be addressed. But, hey, maybe being under Anthonys control is a good thing? Anthony could order him to look over Antimonys studies and whitout Antimony being able to order him. (I still do not wish to think about Renards current and likely future situation too hard, too much screaming without being able to scream).

I am looking at the way Annie cradles the walkie-talkie in frame 4, as if it is the most precious thing to her right now. In its way, it's more touching than the head bump; it means Annie has a tangible life line to her old friend. That is only the first of the brilliant things Kat has done. She's also going to know where Annie's new room is, her robots are going to know where Annie's new room is, and she's saved Annie from some heartbreaking drudgery--come on, everybody knows that a good friend will help you bury the body, but a real friend will help you move. Kat has basically offered Annie the use of her pickup. (When Kat learns to drive, of course her vehicle of choice will be a pickup. It will be self-driving, and will call her "Miss Kat", but it will be a pickup.) Kat will be able to keep an eye on Annie, and on Renard. Most important, though, Kat has gotten Annie involved in a rebellious conspiracy. Gang initiations that require you to commit some crime work off the same effect; it's an powerful bonding tool. (Of course, this one is more benign than, say, robbing a liquor store.) Finally, she got Annie to smile. Annie probably thought she would never smile again. I say again, Kat, bless you. === Panel 5: The averted eyes of "We'd hug now, but Renard would break silence to haze us about it." karl: "Ground Katrol" hahahaha!

The lack of Goodyverse after Jim's spectacular speed of delivery prior is most disconcerting.
Anthony may have kidnapped Mr. North to deprive us of morale boosts when he eventually slithers back on screen.

Relieved that Annie accepted the walkie-talkie and is willing to hide things from Anthony... hope it's not an act.
Kat's offering to help Annie move her stuff and send robots for the rest made me hopeful she's planning to steal Rey... maybe just clandestinely, since pushing Annie about it now might have bad consequences but ultimately she'd be grateful that Kat prevented her from giving Rey to Anthony. But that could just be wishful thinking.

Annie will be living alone, so it shouldn't be too hard to hide it.
Seeing Renard back in the box makes my heart sink, though...this is something that can't be undone, Kat, you're running out of time for an intervention in his fate.

Mildly expecting Annie's new place to be a en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BathysphereMore seriously, I wonder whether Tony's waiting at the new place. If he isn't this arc is going to take a while for anything to be resolved. If he is, it's a chance for a renewed confrontation with Kat (now that she has even more reasons to dislike Anthony) and/or some massive hope-crushing regarding Renard's fate.

Annie will end up ok. Reynardine is being treated as a slave here and his situation is far more concerning to me, as that cannot be undone.

It looks like the line to the left is the corner of her mouth (the continuation of the line between top and bottom lip.) He's drawn it this way earlier in the chapter (invisible mask), but he's used it for other people, too. Here, on Tea, it isn't as noticeable because she's fully shaded. I'm not a colorist, but with Annie's normal lipstick the "wrong" lips don't look as jarring.

Well, you know what it's like with removals: there's always that one box which gets misplaced and never turns up again I think we can leave it to Annie and the robots. (Yes, I'm trying hard to be optimistic here)

Well, if the robots are going to move Rey, then that could be an opportunity to spring him, while Kat has Annie as an alibi. If the robot can sew fast, maybe even replace him with a duplicate. If Annie has ordered him to be still and silent, how would anyone immediately know. Once discovered, how would they determine when he was swapped?
Or Kat could just keep being awesome. There are few things more brave, than showing patience and subtlety, when feeling the irresistible urge to help. I really hope that the "robots helping move" is a ploy to grab/swap Rey. However, if it's merely a soft helping hand, that's all the more reason to give Kat her kudos.

Since we are currently looking on the lighter of things, at least Rey won't have to live with those 'mechanical morons'.
(Maybe this whole chapter is the result of Tom waking in a cold sweat as he realised that he'd just committed the comic to four years in a 'Friends' setting.)

That "Don't let your dad know about it...just in case." is kind of really scary if you think about it. Both girls are scared he would go so far as to isolate her from her friends by taking away what may end up being her only means of communicating with them, and their fears are not necessarily ungrounded.

No can do, Kat needs all the time possible to explain Annie how to set up the radio correctly, starting with "turn this know until you see 144.200 on the display, push this and calmly say: George King Charlie (because Kat is old fachioned like that *head canon*) King Able Tare, little pause, this is George King Charlie hummm let it be Able Nan One... Oh dear, I'd better write this down..."
