I'm ashamed that it's four minutes past the hour and nobody has posted yet...Well, this is about the best way this could be dealt with at the moment. We had discussed how Kat couldn't fix Annie's mental issues alone, so this is probably a step forward. I wonder if Tony will find and confiscate the radios, though, just to kick the dog further. Regardless, I hope Annie recognizes how good and loyal of a friend she has in Kat. I am sad, however, that further reference to Renard was not given today. It seems a bit like it was dropped to soon, since he's still trapped in a paralyzed body, knowing he's about to be given to a man who may be an emotionally-repressed sociopath.

Hm...I can't help but wonder if Kat's a little freaked out and doesn't want to push quite yet. Still, if she isn't already brewing some kind of plan, I'll be really surprised.

Good girl, Kat. Annie's clearly in a sensitive spot and you don't want to cause anything drastic.
I'm just afraid that in the end we'll realize something drastic was what was needed after all.
Also INB4 the final page is Kat trying to contact Annie with the walkie talkie and it's Anthony who responds and tells her to stop trying to contact his daughter, or else there will be...Consequences.

It seems a bit like it was dropped to soon, since he's still trapped in a paralyzed body, knowing he's about to be given to a man who may be an emotionally-repressed sociopath. That was my first thought - damn the radios, let Renard talk! He might have have insight and/or can contribute to a solution.

Perhaps, Kat isn't thinking to clearly, as her world is exploding. Still though, you'd think she'd at least offer to take him in. Given her technology leanings(divinity), the radio might be soothing for her. Something that will help them keep in contact, and something she knows how to fix if it gets broken. Nit like this situation. Kat: "Just in case...Do you know what won't interfere with this radio, Annie.. a tin-foil hat. Just saying."

(retroactive edit) ...the final page is Kat trying to contact Annie with the walkie talkie and it's Anthony who responds and tells her to stop trying to contact his daughter, or else there will be...Consequences. Also INB4 the final page is Kat trying to contact Annie with the walkie talkie and it's Anthony who responds and tells her to stop trying to contact his daughter, or else there will be...Consequences. Or we see Annie throwing it in the trash, without Anthony even having to tell her. Maybe, she's that far gone. Man, that would be depressing. Why is it that the most realistic speculations in this chapter are the darkest? I mean, seriously: mind control, severed hands, inflictable sociopathy...

When you oppose something the best thing is to work outside the frame set by your opponent. We want to stop the move and liberate Annie, not allow her to be isolated completely Kat!

I wonder if the cliffhanger on Friday will be Annie rejecting the walkie-talkie and we will have to wait until next week to find out why.

DaedalusI expect (hope) that the next order of business will aha Kat pushing, however gently or forcefully it may be, for Annie to refuse to, or at least delay giving up control of Rey. Maybe even by taking him with her. Hopefully not without Annie's knowledge but perhaps Kat will do so to avoid making her refuse her father outright.

Kat really is the best friend ever. I was so sure she'd respond too drastically and it'd push Annie away. It makes me think she'll be a really good robot god-queen one day, because she doesn't demand things of people and she knows how to handle complicated, touchy situations, even when she doesn't have all the information at hand.

Everyone needs a friend like Kat in their lives.

Cool head Kat, cool head. It is perhaps wise not to press on just now. Especially understandable given Annie's reaction on the previous page, I can see the logic in establishing a secret form of communication, and then going for the cavalry.* What really surprised me is that it sounds like Kat isn't going to press the issue of Rey, or at least insist Annie let him speak, even if she can't change her mind on Anthony. For all she knows the clock could be ticking on that, and Anthony could be intending to collect at any time.** Though I'm half expecting Kat to go all secret agent now, perhaps distract Annie while only pretending to return Rey to the box. Take him off and hide him somewhere. *Though I might also think I saw a crack in the armour, and insist we continue talking - which could well have made things worse, or better. One can never be sure. **Phrasing it like that made me think of Lomax for some reason, come to collect a... commodity. Ten minutes past the hour, and only four posts. Huh. (tumbleweed floats by)I blame The Avengers for my own absence.

I'm in a state of uncertainty, I'll just look forward to see the next page. While I was a little disappointed by Kat's reaction at first, now I understand how that could still be great.

It wouldn't surprise me if Kat hasn't yet made the matching walkie-textie and is going to have to rush off and make it ASAP after this.
Kat still the all-time best friend ever champion here.

I mean, when did class rooms have chalk and blackboards?

If Kat doesn't use that radio and/or some of her mom's techno magics to spy on Anthony I will be disappointed.

Ugh. Don't settle into this new normal. There has to be more. I hope Kat has a plan and just realizes Annie can't participate in it yet.

This page just gives me very bad feelings. Annie lied about where she's moving, and I agree something with people saying something is going to happen to that radio. I'm still really worried about what might happen to Rey.

Everyone needs a friend like Kat in their lives. I don't think it was unreasonable at all to hope for Kat to push Annie harder; that could have been exactly what she needed to get snapped out of it. Then again, neither is it necessarily unreasonable to go the other way and soft-pedal it, take the harm reduction route and try to work her around gradually. Presumably, Kat knows Annie better than we do and can feel her out on this. Or, as youwiththeface speculated above, perhaps she is weirded out and can also only do so much herself at this point(*). It is a real shame of course that Reynardine is getting placed into the hands of someone who, unlike Eglamore, may not want to just stop him from hurting people, but actually use or harm or completely lock him into absolute immobility... p.s. Yay! Kat, no matter what is going on. Yay! (*) "Who knows?" Maybe not us, any time soon. I note that people still seem to be holding out hope in each thread that, "If we just wait until Wednesday (or Friday, or Monday), X or Y will be explained/clarified." And then it isn't! Seems to me that we who enter here must abandon hope of quick knowledge of any particular thing, being like unto even City Face and gobbling up whatever breadcrumbs of information the inscrutable Tom may scatter before us.

I will say that, IMHO and it seems to me, if he really gave a rat's patootie about her or even her educational success, he would have her live with him so they could reconnect and he could provide her with supervision and (foreign concepts, true) support and love...or at least somewhere she would have some kind of support, like the other students do in each dorm setting, even if just a couple robots that look suspiciously like sitcom characters! instead of being stuck off completely by herself. What. A. Dirtbag. Yisss, We hates him, Precious.
