I think people expect to see a reappearance of Brinnie at some point just because of her inclusion in "The Photo" and then the mystery dragging out for 15 chapters before she made her first and only appearance. And it was quite a flashy event. Pretty much what todd already said, I guess. Brinnie also came up here. She's not been forgotten. Ah! Right you are. More evidence that she has some importance to the overall story. I still don't think there is any indication that the simple chapter name "The Tree" would lead us to believe she will be reappearing any time soon. Overall I have to agree with Daedalus that there is no evidence that we will be seeing her in this chapter. She is just a fun/interesting character to speculate upon.

Another thought: the title, and image, may be a reference to the Blake poem ' A Poison Tree'. The first verse sums up somebody we all know and love (despite herself): I was angry with my friend: I told my wrath, my wrath did end. I was angry with my foe: I told it not, my wrath did grow.It's a later verse which ties it in, and may foreshadow trouble between Paz, Kat and Annie: And it grew both day and night, Till it bore an apple bright, And my foe beheld it shine, And he knew that it was mine -

I've sometimes wondered if the real reason Tom had for including Brinnie in the photograph (and thus bringing her into the comic) was to keep an even number of boys and girls in it.
