I don't think this is Robot, the speech is not polite enough, haha.
While this page does seem ominous I thought the robots were just breaking up the party because of the storm brewing outside.
Speaking of storms, we all know that Zimmy is on edge right before a storm. This should be interesting. Let's just hope the rain is real this time!

"Cancelled, for karaoke! Buhahahahah!!!"
Seriously though, it is really...
"Cancelled, so we may proceed with the marriage of Kat and Paz! Surprise!!"
Robot logic: 1) Kat is happy with Paz, so a marriage must make Kat happier 2) Humans seem to like surprise parties, so they must love a surprise marriage 3) From a robot's perspective, this courtship has gone on for a long time Makes sense, to a robot.

Those are Seraphs. Is this good or bad? Oh man you're right. The Robot Secret Police? Shoooooot, that can't EVER mean something good. Well maybe if someone hadn't been BREAKDANCING...

Well maybe if someone hadn't been BREAKDANCING... Matches Tom's comment: "Did someone try to throw down??"

So, I just realized that the robots conveniently intervene after the lurch in the ship throws Kat off balance as well as gives her the equivalent of a jump scare (which she laughs off). Could this actually just be the robots becoming over-protective and trying to keep her safe? After all that loss of balance could have resulted in a slip where Kat hit her head! (From a robots likely perspective). I don't exactly think this is likely, as this interpretation doesn't exactly match what the writing on the page gives off, but the fact that it is the outline of the Seraphs we are seeing makes me wonder. They do consider Kat's safety their job after all.

At first I thought that it was Lindsay speaking as if the cruise were going to turn into another camping trip. I am not sure now was all the theory that it is Robot's, but that picture of the sea does make it seem like maybe there is a legitemite concern for safety. Or something really stupid and/or weird is about to happen. Those seraphs in the background could be up to anything. Also I really wanted to see them slow dance or something

Dialogue color and shape confirms: it's Robot (used this page for the side-by-side). Robot and 14+ Seraphs. This is bad. This is very bad. EDIT: Demonstrated by eightyfour that many robots (most except for Sky-Watcher, making it funny that I chose that page for the comparison) use that same exact color/shape combination, including Boxbot. I still think it's likely to be Robot, because there are specifically Seraphs on the stage... But it is now rather uncertain. No, no, 14 shadowy things that have the shape of robots, but glowing white eyes. Clearly Robot and Shadow II have had BABIES!

Did anyone else see the waves in panel 2 and instantly think "Poseidon Adventure"? No? So just me then?
Damn, I love a good disaster movie.

Our timid, shy and polite Robot is already very protective of Kat, now imagine the level of overprotective-ness a whole bunch of non-timid seraphs would display. The seraphs have always had this goofy but ominous air about them... so creepy.

What if the robots are here for Zimmy, because they have heard she hates her (or dislikes, fears) an they don't like this. And jack knows this and that's why he is angry and saying it's not safe? Or robots go mayhem and Zimmy saves the day. Isn't that winsbury? you know, that guy(how do I add qoutes when I edit a post?) middle click the quote button (or right click: open in another tab), and go into the BBcode and copy-paste that.

Oh, more potential for disaster on this cruise ship, great. This school trip wasn't dangerous enough already. no idea what's gonna happen. Kat might have negelected the Path of Robot Ascension because of Paz and the robots want to set straight (pun maybe intended). They might want to convert the heathen meatbags to worshipping The Kat. The weather might be the result of Zimmy's instability or some shenanigans by Jack and they need to protect The Kat (and other students). Kat mentioned at the beginning of the cruise that she has never seen robots like those on that boat (link). They might have formed their own independent, heretical Kat cult in the mean time (they're uniquely networked, communication would be very fast.) We might have a Holy War on our hands. Or they might just be there to serenade The Kat. But then they wouldn't have to cancel the rest of the evening. There are a lot of suspects. Maybe, "The Torn Sea" is Tom doing Agathe Christie. Or the Court providing cruise entertainment. If Paz disappeared in the middle of the night, like in Residential, what kind storm would brew inside the ship. Add dark passages to cabins, choppy waters, sea storms, and everyone suspecting everyone else, it would be pretty awesome.

Come on! See the clouds form and orientation in those first 2 panels! They are perfectly circling the boat, even creating a seemingly spherical dome above it. From previous pages (http://gunnerkrigg.com/?p=1392, gunnerkrigg.com/?p=1393) we can see the sky was cristal clear not minutes ago when our beloved girls walked on the floor. Judging from the absence of weariness on every face (except Paz's but that may be attributed to latinos quick reaction to being close to a loved one on a dancing), the last pages have happened in 15 minutes, approx. Specially since Georgie Fame's Yeh Yeh last only 3 minutes. That is, the storm was pre-staged and robot-made. PS: Or maybe it's only fish eye perspective...

Having engaged in swing dancing while on a cruise ship in moderately rough seas, I can attest to the possibility of taking a header. I've never fallen, but there've been moves that took up more room than I'd intended. We were in a ballroom right at the stern, in following seas, and there was pitching as well as rolling. Challenging!

Judging from panel 2 there I'd say they've got a fresh gale going on, and it's growing fast. That's heavy enough seas for me, though I've never been out in heavy seas on a cruise ship before. I'm sure they weather it better than a smaller vessel and they're well-engineered and all, but still, I don't like it. And rogue waves scare the $#@! out of me, I'll be honest. I have too much personal and family experience not to start worrying when I see people being cavalier around safety at sea.

The seraphs are going to put the kids on a deserted island, arm them to the teeth and make them play out Battle Royale.

While this page does seem ominous I thought the robots were just breaking up the party because of the storm brewing outside. I would agree, if it was sailorbots breaking up the party and not S-models. Those guys are serious business (as much as you can take anything the robots do seriously ). There's more to this! So, I just realized that the robots conveniently intervene after the lurch in the ship throws Kat off balance as well as gives her the equivalent of a jump scare (which she laughs off). Could this actually just be the robots becoming over-protective and trying to keep her safe? Now that is a theory I can buy. But the wording "dramatically appropriate" makes me think this interruption has nothing whatsoever to do with actually protecting anyone. It sounds planned and they just chose this moment because it is, well, more dramatic.

Huh, with some people thinking all this stuff isn't really happening (on previous pages), I got the idea that it's perhaps one of docter disaster's (or what was he called?) simulations. Then on this page a voice says "dramatically appropriate", so I thought it's certainly him. I completely missed the robots. I guess it can't be mr disaster then, can it?

Since I started reading (back in Give and Take), this is the first time I dread what is to come. Same here, I joked about "doom" earlier, but the next pages or chapters might be very serious. Is that really Robot speaking, or just one of the Seraphs? The King and Robot are the only two robots that can sound this arrogant, and I can't imagine it's the king. (but maybe Tom can) Always the same guys making trouble, Kings and High priests Or robots go mayhem and Zimmy saves the day. Thought of that, I like that theory. Or is Zimmy's presence just a red herring? Hm, seasick herring? Open new tab, quote someone, cut, and paste in earlier post. Or just copy the piece you want to quote and place between quote things. If you want to quote more then one message to begin with don't use the quote button, but "select" And I just noticed there's a "quote" button, next to the smilies, so you don't have to write the quote things yourself Don't try to edit in the preview panel, you'll mess up your post.

I have now slept, and by looking at the page again, I have discovered the source of my immediate unease:
Robot, in this page, is establishing control. The hints aren't even that small. A large number of Seraphs, and the fact he specifically says he is "canceling activities"... There's something he needs the students to hear. Something highly important. And this was planned.
This is not anything silly, by my reckoning. The other robots, maybe, but Robot hasn't been silly for a long while. If this is him, he has something profound to say. Something that everyone in that ballroom has to know. And knowing what Robot is like these days... That's ominous.
Depending on how it goes, Zimmy could be a powerful complicating factor, as could the sailor-bots, and Kat herself, but I think the next few pages are still going to change something, in a big way. I've been waiting for the Cult of Kat to do something like this ever since "it was worth it"... And this is very close to the end of Volume Five. Whatever happens, it's not going to be pretty.

KRAKEN VERSUS SERAPHS 10PM SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY Shouldn't that be MONDAY MONDAY MONDAY? Well that was unexpected... Robot staging a coup? Or is this another "activity" organised by the staff similar to that in Chapter 24: Residential when they went camping? My vote is for the second option. Given that robots are involved in enforcing the cancellation of activities, I find it kind of hard to believe that this will be at all serious. When have they ever (besides Robot) accomplished anything serious? I mean, come on "dramatically appropriate time"? Can you get any more intentionally cheesy? (You know, the more I think about it, the more it sounds like Dr. Disaster; he could sound like a robot because he's coming through over the loudspeaker...)

What's most ominous: Zimmy had that monstrous vision of Kat in "Divine" *after* the robots started seeing Kat as a goddess.
