I'm seconding how awesome it would be to see the old pages (about chapters 1-13ish) redrawn - both to show progression but also so I can snare in new readers more easily. You see, I tell people about this webcomic with fantastic art and story, but I tell them to not judge the art until later into the comic. I am sad to have to add that disclaimer, but it would be awesome to see the whole thing in the glorious art style of the Modern Siddel Period!! Also, yeah - we all appreciate you, Tom. This comic is a thing that gives me triweekly happiness even when life sucks sometimes, so thank you so much Man, I liked the early style! It perfectly fit finding a minotaur (Hi Basil!) chilling in his timeshare tucked away into a mysterious school's library. (I like the style now as well, but sometimes the bitching and moaning over the early pages gets to me.)

I don't really see any reason for Tom to go back and redraw early pages. It's one of the things that I show people when I'm turning them on to GKC, the amazing art and its progression through time. That being said, it's up to Tom. I certainly wouldn't turn my nose up at a chance to see more of his art.

Now think of all the side-comics he could draw in that time. City Face comics! Or consider the possibility of him hiring someone for the (background) colouring like this: (thank you Vael)Also, yeah - we all appreciate you, Tom. But that leaves less time for discussion!

City Face comics! Or consider the possibility of him hiring someone for the (background) colouring City face. In COLOR (super wow) Also, nitpicks: the patreon banner only appears on gunnerkrigg.com (meaning, not www.gunnerkrigg.com) It's a bit wider than the buttons* and doesn't quite fit in with the rest of the site, but oh well. *the wallpaper links are/were wider as well, but they're weren't solid white so they didn't stick out as much

Nah, I'm fine with people not liking the style, I just get tired of the internet hyperbole machine sometimes.

I don't really see any reason for Tom to go back and redraw early pages. It's one of the things that I show people when I'm turning them on to GKC, the amazing art and its progression through time. Surely you could still do that, since ideally the redrawn pages wouldn't replace the originals. In fact, Dédalo even mentioned that it would be "to show progression", so it should make it even easier to show how the art has progressed through time since you would be able to look at the old and new versions at the same time for comparison.

It is also worth mentioning that there is a fan theory (which I admit I have a soft spot for) that states that the art shift is explained by Antimony growing up, and her perception of the world changing.

This comic is a thing that gives me triweekly happiness even when life sucks sometimes, so thank you so much I think that the art style in the early comics was to show a more childish point of view - for example, the bridge in comic #5 is much longer than in later chapters, because to Annie, it would seem infinite.

I just watched the video. It never occured to me that Tom had a face and a body; I always imagined him as a sort of a nebulous cloud of creativity and talent. Kind of a shock.

Where is Tom's brummie accent that I always imagined him with?! Also, he's pretty good at the surrealist humour in there!
I just signed up too, be good to see him over the 2500 mark.
If he ever reaches half a million dollars PER MONTH he'll be able to afford a top of the line edible printer to print the entire comic off and complete that easily!

I'm waiting for my visa so I can do the 50 usd pledge. Why do you need a visa? The $50 one doesn't involve travel does it? Unless you want him to sketch from life!

Always wanted a drawing from Tom anyway.

4. Videos with commentary about certain chapters or moments in the comic. Like the moment when Reynardine almost killed Annie; what motivated Tom to make the scene that way, how he felt about people's reactions and speculations, anything. There are so many powerful moments in the comic that could take this treatment, and I know we're all thrilled to hear thoughts on it from the author himself. Basically, something like DVD commentary for movies or series. Credit where credit's due, this post gave me the idea to do the video retrospective of the comic. I'm looking forward to working on it, and it shouldn't be too much trouble. Since Patreon works the way it does, though, I'm going to have to wait until next month before really posting stuff, since it's best to wait until the pledges become real. I've heard from other creators who have had people back out of their pledge at the last minute to avoid actually paying.

I don't know what you expected from Patreon, but I find the current amount impressive. I am very glad for you with a warm, fuzzy feeling. If ever there was a fair salary for anyone it would be the amount freely given of people who love your work. It is all well deserved, methinks.

Being a Kickstarter junkie, I have a habit of never touching the pitch videos. I almost missed this one, thanks for pointing out!

We just passed the next Patreon goal! The extra comic will feature Zimmy and Gamma (Paz's story is still to come) I can't wait! Hopefully the subs keep coming. Author of a great comic deserves a matching income.

Bleh the people backing out at the last minute doesn't surprise me. People trying to get the perks without actually contributing.
I've heard from some people who do a patreon for their podcast that they have a load of people who pledged less than $1. Patreon doesn't take money from your paypal or card account until the total is over $1, so people who pledged $0.25 don't pay anything, and the creator doesn't receive anything, until 4 months later. Which was a real pain for them as they ended up having a low monthly amount supplemented by random unpredictable peaks every few months.

You can only choose from the given options right?

How long does it take Patreon to charge patrons at the end of the month? Patreon's FAQ only states it charges credit cards at the end of each month but says nothing concrete about PayPal pledges. My Patreon page still shows pending and I was expecting to receive a PayPal invoice so I can pay it. It's over 24 hours since the end of August and I have not seen anything yet. Is this normal?
