Nice of the Ninth Doctor to pop in for a cameo as one of the kids.

His parents should have known better than to name him after a translation of the word 'Death'.
Yes, I know there are people named Mort (or some derivative thereof) around irl.
And, at least judging by the comment today, my profile comment still applies.

D: That stuff about Betty. That's cold, Tom. She does live long enough to see the birth of her first grandson, but the way it's written it seems super depressing.

But I see your point. And I like Betty. She looks so...optimistic. I choose to view the title text as non-canon today, and there's nothing anyone can do to stop me.

Sorry about the thread zimmyzims. If it's any consolation I was this close to posting in it :/ *grumpy mumble* ...and the one time I was at computer when the new page is launched Gotolei just decides to be back in the business... how can I compete, (s)he's like a squirrel on amphetamine! To be honest, I knew when I posted I was going to be late, since I took a tad too long to think about the link phrase. I blame the recent discussion that unconsciously made me think I have to give some valuable information. So I repeat here my magnificent insight on this page to give direction to the discussion: So, Mort is a little soldier after all. - maybe I was wrong about this too and he will die on fields of glory. By the way, Gotolei, see how we picked different sides of same thing, you went for the positive "they'll find a nice place..." and I the negative "they're still looking for..." By the way, it's "nice safe place".

comment seems a tad out of character for Tom. Of course it could be that he really thinks out the story of every sidecharacter. I just had this weird thought: do you reckon he had one of his grandparrents make a cameo here or something?

This is why I don't proofread my own papers. =) (I'm very bad about reading what should be there instead of what is.) And So, the British forum personnel, pray enlighten us: What does 'the mp' stand for? Could be metropolitan/municipal police.

So, the British forum personnel, pray enlighten us: What does 'the mp' stand for? The 'Mega-parliament'. It's where all of the members of the UK parliament fuse their bodies together to form a towering humanoid bent of death.

Maybe he just wanted to wrap up any theories about her. But it IS really depressing. Maybe Tom's still depressed. It's not a short-time thing, of course. Maybe. Hope not. That was really a grim look at the lives of these characters. On the other hand, I have a feeling that author's depression might make the ultimate Annie v. Kat showdown more likely, so there is a sort of silver lining in that dark cloud too... Okay, serious things should be taken seriously, and depression is awful. All the best Tom! I try to order something one of these days to turn some more of those spiders into money!

I want an uplifting ending, dammit! The comic's too positive (most of the time) for a downer, nihilistic ending! (Though more mechaKat would be appreciated, if you take requests, Tom! )

I don't find that Betty's short bio that depressing; about everybody's (including your usual ordinarily mostly happy and content person) life could summarized like that.
E: Explanation. Everybody dies at the end of their lives, and it isn't implied that her marriage was unhappy. (Not ending up marrying your childhood crush isn't that much of an tragedy, just pretty normal in real life and especially outside of certain genres of fiction.)

I'm assuming Miltiary Police as well, nothing else specifically stands out. Metropolitan Police may be the official name of the merged London police nowadays, but back then they were individual police forces for each region of the city rather than one large Metropolitan force I think. Also wow at the mini-lifetime contained in the comment! She lived to see the birth of her first grandson though (I wonder if it was That Guy), so had a reasonable life. Although this is a chapter about death... is every comment going to contain how the character from ww2 died?

I find it weird that the girl's, Betty, eyes were detailed with nice shade of blue,
I can only think of another character with a nice shade of blue.
And the time kinda adds up (I think)
(Also, I'm convinced this is a reference to the song NO ONE CAN STOP ME)
