Sorry for the double post, but, still working on chapter 25, I found that Robot sound quite like Yoda in this sentence : "This part you must do on your own". Is this just me or ?...

Haha, I think Yoda would be more like: "On your own this part do you must, young sky watcher." Or something like that. As for the Chardonnay: I hope you appreciate the works of Schopenhauer and aren't secretly Peer Steinbrück, because the best I can actually offer is some €8 bottle of punk-ass Pinot and that's going to require some fierce exercise in Wille und Vorstellung. If you're anywhere near Hamburg in August and find the previous sentence to sound vaguely like a decent idea, there'd sure be time enough for a meet-up. Ahh, while that sounds like an excellent idea, the closest I will be to Hamburg this summer is Osnabrück... with no means of getting any closer. Though I'm not giving up yet! Someday! Someday I will meet another Gunnerkrigg Court fan in real life!

English permits that any constituent part of a sentence can be dragged to the front for emphasis. It's quite rare, but not impossible, for the direct object to be exposed like that. Joyce provides an example in Chamber Music XXVII: For elegant and antique phrase, Dearest, my lips wax all too wise, [...] (That's my favourite poem of the lot except for the outstanding XXXVI, which was added later when Joyce had already grown tired of the others. Here's a link, and here's a link to XXXVI) Ahh, while that sounds like an excellent idea, the closest I will be to Hamburg this summer is Osnabrück... with no means of getting any closer. I'll have to traverse what feels like the entire Federal Republic (all of Hesse and Lower Saxony) on the Konstanz-Stralsund route to get to Hamburg in the first place. Taking a train to Osnabrück and back wouldn't be much of a problem.

Concerning Osnabrück: we could move this conversation to private messages and see if anything can be arranged.

(If anyone, someday, happen to pass through Metz, France, let me know. I would love to share a beer or a non-alcoholic beverage as well and talk about the comic !)
