I can't wait to see how Mort plays Virgil to Annie's Dante. This ought to be a fun trip...

Nice to see Kat broaden her horizons a bit, even to the point getting excited about the etheric sciences awesome ghost stuff

I wonder if "tour guide" is under the list of jobs Mort has.

Mort can do it [but if he couldn't once the gang gets the arrow they could take turns poking themselves with it].
Unless my memory fails me I think Mr. Siddell twittered or formsprang something about being impressed by/creeped out by the flattened-out dude from the undead bureaucracy in Beetlejuice so I expect there just may be a passing resemblance in some background character in the RotD.
Also this may be a good chapter for some evidence for or against the etheric overlay theory.

The whole realm of the dead business reminded me of an old Dresden Codak page.

Ha! Ever since the last page I have been thinking of those administrators from the office waiting scenes in Beetlejuice. Looking forward to seeing what Tom's version of post-life functionaries look like. Also, very pleased with Kat on this page. Her attitude is great! I love how she is learning to accept etherial concepts.

The whole realm of the dead business reminded me of an old Dresden Codak page. My heart oozes with organic maintenance fluid and love for Dresden Codak. I'm envisioning someone with a torn "Tour Guide" hat, leading them around. This should be a funny and tantalizing chapter. Also curious, if Kat will ask questions during the trip, especially about the etheric nature of the Court robots. Her gained knowledge, and their faith in her, could create a sense of duty towards their spiritual ascension. Metarobotics? Transanthropy?

I bet 5 cookies that it's not as impressive as Kat is expecting.
If Tom really wants to be mean, it'll be a few guys in cruddy cubicles in a mostly-disused warehouse who have to much time on their hands to think up overly-impressive titles for the bureaucratic little backwater.

Skeletal reapers in an art deco world with foldable scythes and a very spanish theme.

Hopefully we get to see his file there: and finally resolve who this guy is!
(I still think he was Daniel Schiff - the guy Reynardine killed. But someone correct me if relevant Word of Tom contradicts me.)

The only hint he has given is that Mort somehow died for his country. If he did, I'm pretty sure it's not recent. There has been no new Word of Tom for a very, very long time - since before we knew this guy's name. He could have said that before we knew who Rey's victim was, and it's more than possible that I just missed it.
