Hm, zimmyho, your text thingy looks kinda... Weird. :S Is it supposed to be the harmonic series? 'Cause it's lacking the seven reciprocal. And if it is the harmonic series it should equal infinity rather than a number?

Wait, that's the Serenity? Kudos to you! (I like the spaceship, even though the one episode I saw was too bloody for my tastes. Also there's lots of awesome Lego Serenitys out there.) Also - Freeformline, I think you said at some point you were a proponent of space travel? Same here, although I don't intend to make it a career (eh, who knows). Yeah space! It's good to hear another person in support of space travel; a lot of people, including too many of my close friends, don't see why it is important or interesting, so it is refreshing to hear of a like mind. Work wherever fits you. I think my talents and passions suit a career pursuing space colonization, but you could be well suited for something completely different. You can support space exploration simply by spreading interest. If everyone thinks it is important, it makes progress a lot easier. I love Firefly. It isn't always bloody, though it can be pretty intense. I am a little skeptical (actually extremely skeptical) of the feasibility (I expect to see warp drives first) of a craft that is as versatile and functional as a firefly ship, but the show doesn't seek to validate any of its mad science, so I'm happy.

I think that space travel is important because it's dangerous to have all of humanity on one system, and because we need to keep achieving, and because we can improve the average quality of life if we have multiple planets to live on. What's your reasons? Have you read Kim Stanley Robinson's Red Mars? If not, please do!

Just noticed the missing 1/7. Good catch. Well, it's still true without the seven... In fact it would be true for any number of missing numbers. 1/n+1/(n+1)+...=inf, where n is any number.

Wine smells awful. Beer is bad enough, but I simply cannot be in the same room as an open bottle of red wine, which makes cooking with alcohol a pain. This is my life (I can cook with wine somehow though). I feel vindicated somehow. Also doable by noting that it diverges from 1 by 10^-n after n decimal places and as n goes to infinity the limit approaches 1. That way (the one you mentioned) is better, though.

It gets really trippy in multivar calc.

Bam. Since a = b, a-b is zero. Zero doesn't play well with algebra. I will now demonstrate:
