How long do you guys think it'll be until Alistair shows up? Maybe he's already shown up! He's a bird! He could be anywhere! He could be anybird! Even you! Spoiler: He's dead. Not really, but seeing as how he is simply a bird that will NEVER be appearing in the comic again, it is quite possible that his life will have ended before Annie and Kat leave the Court.

How long do you guys think it'll be until Alistair shows up? Not sure. Perhaps not even in Jones's lifetime.

Ok, I've changed my mind. It can't be from a robot. If it was they would have used the word "Angel" and both Kat and Annie would have known it was from a robot straight away. Kudos to the person who pointed it out in the comments That was me! (i'm so proud now) Seeing as how Kat's acting, my guess is she thinks it's from Paz, but I doubt it actually is (I said in a previous post that I then thaught it could be Paz, but that's because I thought Kat already knew for sure whom it was from). About it not beeing from a robot, I guess it's true though that annie maybe wouldn't make that assumption, so I guess it is possible that it is from a robot, although I don't think Kat would be so emberassed then. So... dunno :s anyway, about the whole words filter, what was "the butt zone" actually supposed to be?

Just noticed something- normally Kat is drawn to look a lot like Anja, but in this comic she totes looks like Donny!

The letter being from a robot never really caught on for me, do robots even have any idea of romance? The only time we have seen one even saying anything related to romance is when Shadow and Robot are talking (that I can remember). And the point about it not being addressed to Angel is a good one. Although the frame at the beginning of the last chapter of Kat looking at who we assume to be Paz just before she accepts going to live with Annie, might suggest that Paz overheard them and sent it to Annie's room. www.gunnerkrigg.com/?p=1133I'm still not unconvinced it's not from a third party or something though, trying to kick start something between Kat and someone else. Given the technology of the court I don't think the style of computer paper is particularly giving much away I want us to be able to see the full text of the letter, if just to fulfil a massive threads worth of speculation juice!

They fall in love with Court staff and students often enough that guidelines have been set for dealing with that sort of thing. The ones here who are sceptical about the robot-option tend to find it a too obvious answer for so much buildup. Also, you would think that Annie would understand the Court robots well enough by now to recognise their handiwork.

The comics and western animation section of 4chan, /c o/ (without the space) And there I was thinking I'd discovered all of the word filters. Tom should add a filter for 4chan too. This is one of the few places on the internet where it is possible to not hear about that place for extended periods of time, and I think that it doubleplusgood. \co\ is alright, but like most subject oriented boards they suffer spillover from other, less reputable places like /b/ and /r9k/. The only time I see GKC threads there is each night after the update, and that's probably the way it should be.

Ok, I don't know how relevant this is, but it might be some kind of subconscious slip from Tom's side. Usually, the most logical thing to ask would be " Anybody we know? Is he in this room right now?". This is what most people would say unless they already suspected the letter wasn't from a boy. However, Annie asks " Are they in this room right now?". Is there any reason for this? Is it a slip from Tom's side, or is the possibility of a female or robotic writer not too far fetched for Annie? Now I know Tom is cunning and usually one step ahead of the readers, but if it was a boy we already knew about, he would probably not think of using the gender neutral third person singular pronoun " they" because that wouldn't make any sense. So, in that case, I would think Tom used they because he subconsciously knew he couldn't use he because that would be wrong in context. As a result, my crazy theory is that the person who wrote the letter is either a robot, or a girl. There is also a possibility that it's a character we don't know anything about yet, and in that case it might be a boy. Of course, Tom might of course be very well aware of the word use, and used they to make sure we didn't jump to any conclusions, as I'm doing right now. Might even be an in-universe explanation for Annie's use of they. As she's been shown to have some sort of interest in Jones, Annie might be open to the possibility that the letter might be from a girl. OR she might be aware about Kat's issues with her sexuality or at least with what other people think about her sexuality. Or maybe it doesn't mean anything and that I should stop pretending that I know anything about subconsciousnesses and that stuff.

Even if it is a boy we already know about, Kat hasn't shared any of her suspicions, so Annie wouldn't know that yet. Considering how many different creatures are found in the court and its surroundings, it's not surprising that she would use the neutral 'they' to be as open to anything as possible.
She doesn't even have to know about Kat's issues with her sexuality. After all, she's not guessing who Kat sent a love-letter to, but who sent one to her...So she realises that a girl, robot, or any other theories we have here, could have possibly sent the letter. Especially considering all she's been through, Annie is a pretty open minded and understanding girl. So she's making sure no doors are closing by using something as specific as 'he'.

It have to be Cityface via Paz... It would seem that the word filter turns / c o / into The Butt Zone.... I'd suggest not going there, Gunnerkrigg discussions turn into rather nasty ship fests That's why, apparently. ;D However I do think that Annie was being intentionally ambiguous. Annie and Tom are of a like (troll) mind! To quote another webcomic... no wait. I'll rather link it.

Annie's expression in panel 3 looks like someone who just made an especially bad joke/pun and is waiting for a reaction that will never come.

You know, that's creepingly close to the reason why Lame Pun Coon was replaced with Bad Joke Eel. Just look at the eel. It was just someone who pointed out all eels look like that. Oh, darn, that was offtopic...

I cannot stop laughing at that new word filter. The Butt Zone is definitely suiting for the /co/mrades.
Guys, does Kat have a faux-hawk, or is Tom parting her hair on both sides for artistic whatsits?

Plot twist: There's nothing actually written on the paper; it's a low level psychic illusion that appears as whatever words the reader thinks should be written.

I wonder if it's from Robot, but isn't a love letter. Just a nice letter bringing Kat up to date on all the craziness with the robots and the angel and some stuff the readers don't even know yet.

Well maybe she learned from Coyo- never mind. edit- I don't think I quoted the right post here. I think I was trying to make a point about Annie's lack of subtlety or something?

To quote another webcomic... no wait. I'll rather link it. Useful tip for anyone who follows that link: The two characters who actually appear on that page are the two major male characters in the comic.
