ZAM! is nice, but it's no SINGLE BOUND!
I do wonder though if Ysengrin's aggression is his own is something controlled by Coyote? This was certainly orchestrated by him, but why? He doesn't want Annie too closely associated with the forest? he got tired of her? maybe he's trying to provoke the Court?
Also, when are we going to find out what Jones is? i really hope end of this chapter or next chapter is her talking to Jones and us seeing what she really is.

Here's where I fangirl over Jim's perfect expression and muscular arms. ~~~~~~~\\o I think Ys is going to feel a great deal of regret after this, but hide it, as per usual, or make a very offhand comment that somewhat implies he regrets it, the next time they meet. I wonder, though, if Coyote will continue keeping Ys as his personal Annie-fetcher after this. He doesn't really think twice about punishing Ysengrin brutally with the wave of his paw. As for the interlocked triangle symbol, I think that may be magic associated with the beacon, not Jim's personal powers. Also, when are we going to find out what Jones is? i really hope end of this chapter or next chapter is her talking to Jones and us seeing what she really is. I know, Tom's been dangling this one in front of us for chapters. *pine*

Uhh, Mr. Thorne the former games teacher, right? Anywho, I'm really looking forward to Jim admonishing Annie on monday and Annie being indignant about it. 'S gonna be fun. I dunno. I kinda hope he treats the situation as a bit more complicated than "Ys bad. You no see him no more." Or "oh you're so dumb for not seeing that coming even though Ys has been really nice and friendly to you for a while and you had no reason to suspect it." Cuz that WAS some really crazy stuff that just happened. I certainly wasn't expecting Ys to go that far, even when he started freaking out.

Love panel 2!
It took me a bit to parse 4&5, but I'm glad I went back to do so.
But who is this guy that showed up?

Or maybe you got that and were playing with the joke in a way I didn't get, in which case, my bad. Anyway, I feel less like I understand the last panel of the previous page now. It seems like a pretty quick shift from terror to pity if he wasn't injured...or maybe he was, just not by Eglamore.

I wonder if the ZAM spell has changing into awesome armor built in, or if Jimmy Jims always dresses up when Annie visits the forest, or it was just pure luck that he wasn't wearing nothing but undies.

See this page from the beginning of the chapter. Eglamore drops her off while wearing the proper attire, and I imagine still waits for her by the edge of the forest as he was shown doing in previous chapters.

I think it only takes him two seconds to get dressed, you know how guys are. That armor hasn't been washed in two weeks, no doubt.

Sheesh! Hm, I would've gone with it's a prototype/one-time gift from somebody, and I am sure people could come up with a ton of other plausible answers. : D That's why I wrote "rhetorical question" there. : P

Jimmy looks quite collected here, maybe the anger is to come later. I guess this is an ironic turn of events considering the opening conversation with Annie and Eggers.
also, I didn't read pity on Annie's face last page. I thought the "oh Ysengrin" was just Annie's scared face, and trying to appeal to Ys's mercy in case Jimmy doesn't show up.

All sorts of interesting questions from this page's discussion: www.gunnerkrigg.com/archive_page.php?comicID=806"No guide would claim her because there was nothing to take" -- Does this mean that Annie has inherited all the etheric potential of her entire bloodline? www.gunnerkrigg.com/archive_page.php?comicID=118First appearance of Eglamore's lightsaber (etheric / court-computer sword). In today's page, it is strapped to his back, along with another (likely more mundane) sword in a scabbard to his side. Why does he need them both? And i'm loving the return of the Valknut. Tom's promised to delve into the depths of Jones this chapter, but of course, he introduces more mysteries. My favorite thing!

Probably, and most likely not. She would most likely be the continuation of a soul, less than the total sum knowledge of the entire bloodline. It would be like saying my inheritor, Gilad Pellaeon gets the entire Empire, but that does not mean that he would necessarily run it identical to how I would. There are demonstrable difference twixt Annie and Surma. However, does this mean that she inherits the "potential"? Yes. Does she inherit the knowledge and experience of its use? No. In answer, yes and no. www.gunnerkrigg.com/archive_page.php?comicID=118First appearance of Eglamore's lightsaber (etheric / court-computer sword). In today's page, it is strapped to his back, along with another (likely more mundane) sword in a scabbard to his side. Why does he need them both? The same reason a soldier carries a blaster and a vibroknife. If one is rendered useless, fisticuffs is generally not a valid option in combat. Similarly, when disarming your opponent it is frowned upon to truly dis-arm them with a shot. You would much rather subdue them with your vibroknife. Sir Eglamore does not know when, if, or why Annie will summon him, and as any good rear echelon reinforcement knows, it is better to be loaded for gundarks and paranoid than complacent and unprepared.

It's about time we saw Eglamore show what he can *really* do! (His timing's generally been just a little off up till now)
Mid pic... not sure whether Annie is terrified of Ysengrin (which she is) or stunned at Jimmy-J's ZAM!trance

1) Some spiders can jump fifty times their height in distance -- animals.about.com/od/arachnids/qt/jumpingspider.htm2) And what is all this commenting (on the page, not here) about Coyote teaching a lesson of respect? Coyote loves when Annie disrespects him (in general, i bet Coyote loves it when anyone disrespects anyone else). Also, although Coyote has been known to teach a lesson, it seems to me that most of his schemes are for no purpose other than his own amusement (e.g. when he stole the moon; the only possible lesson there would have been 'don't trust Coyote', but that hardly counts because every Coyote trick would teach that lesson). The idea that Coyote is there to teach lessons seems similar to the dying man (erroneously) thinking that the simple, hungry coyote waiting for him to die is a proxy in some epic battle. 3) Btw, Annie is currently failing to take Coyote's previous advice regarding Ysengrin -- it's possible that all this running from Ysengrin is only egging him on: www.gunnerkrigg.com/archive_page.php?comicID=672

Yeah, I have to wonder... what would Ys even do to Annie if he caught her? I guess the threat of him actually tearing her apart is enough to run away from, but at the same time part of me can't see him really going through with it.

Rhetorical question: why not use a second beacon to get near instantly teleported out? : ) The beacon is probably just a communication device. Otherwise it would be easier to just have Annie teleport out on her own.

Rhetorical question: why not use a second beacon to get near instantly teleported out? : ) Well, as Eggy arrives it looks to me like he is landing, i.e. he jumped there. If that's the case then the beacon only notified him of where he is needed; a second beacon would just inform him of where he is, and he already knows that. Alternatively, if the beacon did teleport him in - then it's a summoning device, not a sending device. A second beacon would also summon him to where it is; they'd need someone somewhere else to break it, and how would that person know when to do so? Fortunately, Eggy has his jumpy-magic, and that seems to be quite sufficient to the need.
