Wild speculation: Eggers shows up in a bathrobe and towel wrapped around his head, with a toothbrush hanging out of his mouth. I think this is most likely.

That was my first thought, too. "..." is Eglamore's arrival, "oh, Ysengrin..." is one second after. Whatever happened, she's no longer predominantly afraid but sad. Like Flowers for Algernon, only if Charlie also had rabies.

This will end poorly. No matter what occurs henceforth, this will be a horrific encounter.

Remember what happened to Robot's body when eggers threw the glowie sword into him. He hurled that blade hard enough, at range, to plow through the metal body, and lift it from its feet. And Eggers is in full regalia, with two other blades of unknown properties...I'd wager that Eglamore is a highly dangerous opponent... and we're likely about to see just how dangerous. He's going to be coming here, with 5 seconds of prep time to expect a fight.

I hate to think, that she just saw Ysengrin get cleaved in half. I doubt that's something, that any young girl would get over seeing.
Also, it'd be a shame, if Tom boba-fetted him.

It turns out the beacon does nothing, it was just to make her feel safer, the real beacon was in her heart all along~ If that is true, then I would wager the beacon inside her heart is about to be snapped too... By a very large tree... That might be kind of cool visually if it was one of those glow stick things. Just saying.

While it would be pretty cool if off-page, Ys got a sword through the head or something (story-telling-twisty-good-use-of-panels-wise, not because I want Ys to die) and I'm definitely not ruling that out, I think Annie could have a number of things going through her head right now that caused her to say those words: -She's realizing that their relationship will never be the same. -Eggers may end up killing him in her defense (or visa-versa?). -Pity at the momentary loss of his sanity/seeing him like this. I just think her reaction would have been more extreme if some extreme violence was happening. Maybe Egger's sword is at Ys' throat? Like he did to Coyote when he was in that elf disguise, kissing Annie's arm? Maaaan, Friday can't come soon enough. At least we know Tom isn't keen on cut-aways. Wild speculation: Eggers shows up in a bathrobe and towel wrapped around his head, with a toothbrush hanging out of his mouth. I think this is most likely. And then Ys and Annie laugh it all off.

I feel like we've seen Panel 4 with a different figure in it before. I'm not sure where, but I believe that panel indicates Annie departing from the forest, at least mentally. On second look the last panel makes me think that most of you are right, and something terrible just happened to Ys.
Also, a look at the comments shows a haiku by James and Khantalas' first 'live' strip. Good god, that must be the worst feeling in the world.

I always thought 5 seconds was a bit ambitious, even for Eglamore.
But I can't think of an explanation of that last panel except that something's happened to Ys. You just don't move from terror back to pity so quickly.

I always thought 5 seconds was a bit ambitious, even for Eglamore. Hopefully he is faster than last time.An alternative to Elga-smash is that the beacon is connected to an ethereal computer; allowing for the holder to be found on a network and transported with moderate ease. Like the thing used for Microsat-5, but in reverse. Though I suspect transporting living beings/human-sized objects is harder than scalpel blades.

It's been awhile since someone died in Gunnerkrigg Court. I'm not saying I want it to happen, but it could.

On that thread, who has died in GC? The dragon that Reynard controlled, the robot that Jack smashed, if you consider the destruction of a robot a death... is that it? And that shadow man that was impersonating Shadow.
In the past (before the comic's start), arguably Jeanne, certainly her green elfy friend. Diego died "on screen" of old age. Tom showed Annie walking her mother into the ether as a thought/flashback in this chapter.
If Ys dies here, I could really see the Court and forest going to war.

Also the Old One. How easily she gave life, and how easily she took it away.
The faeries died off screen, too. And the boy from the fire...he was already dead, but his soul had to pass. And a tic-toc. And at least one whitelegs.

Well, the writer in me is seeing the next page as one page of Ysengrin impaled scene ala Sephiroth/Aerith. Perhaps in silhouette with dramatic lighting in the background. Though, such a graphic display isn't the norm, so if he is indeed killed. I imagine Tom will only show part of him a limp hand/whatever, perhaps his face. The Saddest face.... I don't imagine "That Guy" appearing to ask questions. He's going to drop in like the spear of Longinus. Also, I imagine Ysengrin isn't in any mental state to see it coming either. That being said, The fan in me has learned to expect the unexpected so more than likely all manner of hijinks are about to ensue. Like.... Perhaps that's not really Ysengrin, but Coyote, trying once again to get one scare out of Annie. He did vanish as she left.

Darn it Annie, why'd you have to break the Chekhov's Gun? Those things are expensive! If Ys dies here, I could really see the Court and forest going to war. Well, Eggers-assault appears to be not especially effective on Ysengrin, so I don't think that's likely. Then again, he didn't exactly aim for the obvious weak area that time, and he's going to have to do something to prevent Annie's imminent pulverization... ...or, there's always the "terrifying explosion of blink stone fire" option.

Although I won't rule out the possibility that Ysengrin received some dramatic-looking injuries, remember that he is a god. I doubt he will be dispatched very easily.

Has it ever been indicated that he's a "god" like Coyote, though? All we really know is that he's an etheric, immortal being born of human thought. If that human thought imagined him as killable, he may well be.

Next page will be a full-page image of Eggers with his sword through Yssy's head or torso, calling it now. Staying up until midnight (on a school night, nonetheless!!) because my interest in what comes next is too insatiable, especially if my speculation is true. I waited all of Thursday and I want a new page NOW. Can't wait.

If that human thought imagined him as killable, he may well be. He has never been a God in the myths he is based on, so no he is merely a mortal being that is unaging.
