I'm getting a vague feeling that Coyote is getting set for a trick on a scale we haven't seen before, and this is all just the prep work.

hmm so Jones is also The Great Spirit? The great spirit is indeed portrayed as an eye here and here. If not the great spirit itself, maybe Jones is some kind of agent on its behalf? Not taking sides directly, but operating on the spirit's agenda? Edit: As in, Jones is the Great Spirit's wandering eye. Hmm? (also, first post! been lurking awhile, and now I speak) The only reason the Great Spirit is a singular eye is because the other has a tendency to wander around

I doubt Jones is the great spirit, from what Coyote is saying here it sounds like Jones is a fallen star. Stars could be said to be eyes in the sky watching over us, and a shooting star would be something that get's people's imaginations RACING. Suddenly the fallen star is a person, impartial, quiet, and observant. If Jones is a star, she's a *WANDERING* Star - i.e. a Planet (from the origin of the word). Now which planet could she be? Of course stars have symbols associated with them... I thought exactly the same thing. Saturn is associated with lead, which is heavy, and it kind of suits her personality too, so my money is on Saturn.

Oh come on Coyote, you barely did anything unnatural and creepy with your stretchiness this update. You're slipping bro.

I'm pretty sure Jones isn't The Great Spirit. People have asked Tom on formspring before if Jones is based on something from mythology and he's said that she's something that he made up.

Maybe Jones is a fallen star. Then it would be "thou shall not ask Jones about..." Also, Coyote looks extra creepy in panel 5. Someone needs to write new dialogue there, in the vein of: "You like these? I got more in my van right over there..." More like "See? Just like real Swiss ones. Come on, it's a good deal...". I guess, a matter of taste. Secondly, it supports the idea that when she's not eating, sleeping, or working, she observes (as a star in the sky, constantly watching). But... she does not wink.

I use to think she was like an interface created by Kat's parents for the Court...but this whole Wandering Eye thing brings it closer to the Forest than the Court, it seems. "Wandering" implies she's deviated from her path...maybe she was a creature of the Forest and wandered over to the Court, because she was intrigued by them? Hmm

In Gunnerkrigg court world, what people believe comes true like coyote. Jones is result of humans watching "Invasion of the Body Snatchers", Lord of the Rings (Sauron's wandering eye), the Terminator (including the shape shifting blonde in T3), Star Trek (7 of 9) and other fantasy/SF movies and shows. As we all know, real females are full of emotion, illogic, talky/talky and out of touch with reality, so Jones being typical SF alien is the opposite... the ideal of the teenage male that he never sees in real life, a female more like him.

Aha, so somewhat like the spookshow of American gods.
