Dr. Zimmy is here to help!
I'm really interested to see how the chapter title (Divine) is going to work into all of this.

I'm really interested to see how the chapter title (Divine) is going to work into all of this. Well, I'm pretty sure the only actual deity to appear in-comic as an active character so far - even in a flashback - is Coyote.

To my knowledge we haven’t seen Zimmy able to freeze people, certainly not in the comic’s real world. Up till very recently that was my understanding also, that Zimmy wasn't able to actually do anything magical and all that etheric power pouring through her "busted floodgate" was just an unfortunate condition to be endured as best as possible. However, if Zimmy is going to help someone that apparently means that she either has some other source of power or that our initial belief isn't 100% on-target. Gamma and Zimmy do look surprised in the first panel of #1032. Or maybe I should say Zimmy is saying "huh" and her expression is difficult to read, but Gamma looks surprised and she is looking right at Kat. Normally Renard would react strongly to Zimmy's presence but he and everyone else is asleep or not acting. One answer is that this is a dream/illusion and they (Renard et al) are not really there. Yep it's possible that Zimmy and Gamma were entering someone's (Antimony's?) mind and accidentally landed in Kat as an unplanned layover, but if that were the case then why is Gamma separating from Zimmy now? I can come up with a few plausible reasons but they sound more like rationalizations to me... but it's still possible. The other possible answer, that Zimmy has "paused" everyone, raises the question of why Kat alone can still move and talk. Kat is experiencing emotional turmoil not connected to Antimony and she is probably the most mundane of the lot (remember that Robot is a golem at heart). Kat isn't unaffected by Zimmy, she's got a headpigeon. That could well be the unintended consequence of some borderline mental tinkering and that seems to track well with the timing of Gamma's (and probably Zimmy's) amused and surprised reactions because if you know you're in someone's head then why be surprised you can access their inner dialog? Maybe they were just surprised it's a headpigeon but still, this theory explains more while resting on fewer unknowns. Therefore I am favoring the idea that this is substantially real (except for the headpigeon) over the dream theory by 5:2. And yes, the "pause that refreshes" theory raises the possibility that ZImmy has put Antimony under intentionally so that she can remove the scar or do whatever, and that's why Antimony is in the hospital in the first place. But don't think about that possibility too much, there's insufficient foundation for discussion of that as yet.

Doctor Zimmy should become a meme:
[Patient] So doctor, what's wrong with me? [Zimmy] uh, you're gonna die in 58 years, 5 months, 2 weeks, 5 days, 18 hours and 58 minutes. [Patient] What? Is it cancer? [Zimmy] Haha no, it's the cold, your death will be of unrelated causes.

I wonder if Annie somehow got "lost" ( being disconnected from her body) and somehow latched to Zimmy, either by being trapped in her mind or thinking she can help? This gave me the rather terrifying idea that Zimmy is some sort of identity vaccuum. We know she collects etheric energy and technically someone projected is nothing but etheric energy. When she overloads she sucks all etheric abled into her memories. What if somehow she drew Annie into herself? Maybe that's why Reynard is so freaked out by her. yeah I only have half faith this is true.

Haha, I hope I'm not the only Mexican bloke around here, since the first thing Doctor Zimmy brought to mind was Dr. Simi (pronounced the same way, but with an s).

The last panel is gorgeous. That composition (the foreground ferns make that image), that lighting! Tom, you should be proud of yourself.

This is turning out really interesting. Zimmingham is seemingly the result of the uncontrolled etheric energy that seems to infest Zimmy. Could Annie have something similar?

Doen't necessarily mean that Coyote or another deity will be in it. Perhaps it just means we will see a nicer side of Zimmy? Or, I guess or more trickster...y.... side of Zimmy since the only known diety is Coyote. Alternatively, maybe we could find out something about the Aether?

Why would Zimmy need new powers to help someone? We've already seen her help someone. She helped Jack. Unless something has radically changed since the last time we saw Zimmy, then Zimmy has no control over her condition. Remember when she flipped out at Antimony suggesting she learn to control it?

I think it hasn't been true for quite some time that Zimmy has no control.
Insufficient control is a different matter though. So much etheric stuff comes at her that she is overwhelmed.

O-ka-ay!
It *could* still be Kat's dream of what the forest is like.
It could be Anne dreaming she's stuck in a hospital ward with an augmented Kat...
(It could also be real, with Kat's pigeon being a projection from Zimmy.... that doesn't explain why the other characters are frozen, though)
...and it could be that I am totally out to lunch on all this, and should just sit in the back quietly gibbering!

I wonder if Annie somehow got "lost" ( being disconnected from her body) and somehow latched to Zimmy, either by being trapped in her mind or thinking she can help? Most likely not, she had been pretty fine for quite a while now. I am guessing something forest/Coyote related. Yeah, but previously she's always been connected to herself or the blinking stone. Maybe she someone moved her body on her, or she got stuck somewhere. Well, I'm pretty sure the only actual deity to appear in-comic as an active character so far - even in a flashback - is Coyote. Actually, no. It's a small role, but we have seen Chang'e.

Well, divine literally means either "from God" or "like God." Doen't necessarily mean that Coyote or another deity will be in it. I'm still inclined to think that the title is about divining answers. We haven't seen any indication of a god's presence in the chapter so far, but Zimmy seems to be doing divination on Annie.

The plain circle on Zimmy's shirt might be her symbol, if so it carries some hefty implications of infinity and divinity. Or it might be some old stitching from a crest or patch. Heh. Why would Zimmy need new powers to help someone? We've already seen her help someone. She helped Jack. Unless something has radically changed since the last time we saw Zimmy, then Zimmy has no control over her condition. Remember when she flipped out at Antimony suggesting she learn to control it? I'm hesitant to accept Zimmy helping Jack as a constructive use of her etheric overflow. That could be construed as zeroing out her own effects or cleaning up her own mess. But this chapter is making me rethink Zimmy a lot. It wouldn't surprise me to learn that Zimmy and/or Gamma have a few tricks up her/their sleeve(s) that we previously didn't suspect. I think it hasn't been true for quite some time that Zimmy has no control. Insufficient control is a different matter though. So much etheric stuff comes at her that she is overwhelmed. I do not know how much of that control is attributable to Zimmy and how much to Gamma. My guess is that Zimmy can (at best) aim it and turn it loose, and then try to manage the fallout and shape it into something useful with Gamma's help. I think it was indirectly formspring'd that Gamma can delete Zimmy's memories. It may be possible that Zimmy's parents do not know she's gone because Zimmy and/or Gamma erased their memories of her on purpose so they wouldn't worry, or so they wouldn't separate them. Or it could've been an accident. However Zimmy may be able to use Antimony in a different way.

It just occurred to me: what if Zimmy meets Coyote? That could be scary... Given that Renard called her an abomination I'm willing to bet Coyote and Ysengrin would try to hide from her.

Ysengrim doesn't seem like the kind of guy who backs down from a fight, ever. Coyote is a God, so I doubt there are very many people who can hurt him. Renard called her an abomination but that doesn't mean he's threatened by her.

Renard's body lies lifeless in the forest.
Our protagonist's body lies lifeless in the Court.
Put 1 and 2 together everyone.

why is this not make me happy? i feel like a protective father, she is too young..hmmfff :< hoping it is not what it looks like! Also am attached to idea of Annie as an asexual character. cross checked with story about Jeanne b/c I thought maybe it was her bf's ghost, but it is not. I think you might have posted this to the wrong thread.
