He's become my favourite character, and that was one close call with Jones.

Locked myself out the house many a time, and this is what I needed the most.

That was just so completely awkward how she juped down on her own and he was just standing there with his hand out. xD

Regular doors are for people who aren't super-geniuses with access to magic holes in the wall.
I imagine the time he saves not turning doorknobs adds up after awhile.

That was just so completely awkward how she juped down on her own and he was just standing there with his hand out. xD I thought he was gesturing, bidding her to come through the door. Did anyone else wonder if that laptop would still work after being cut in half like that?

I don't think anythings actually been cut. It's just...somewhere else. I bet you anything it will reappear unharmed when they leave.

Being an egghead with access to supernatural resources seem to have its perks. Stay in school kids, and maybe one day you too can be as cool as Donny Donlan.
I love the way he walks up to it, looks through it and it's at that point that he actually explains the reality ripping hole he just opened. Or maybe he just wasn't sure and had to check it out to be sure, like:
"....yup, it's my hole alright."
Also Annies immediate question as to where it goes, coupled with Donnys lax way of replying as well as the properties it shows (cutting the table and the computer, but nothing collapsing) hints at the possibility that it can indeed open doorways between points much further apart.
Another thing at close inspection:
Donnys cheerful attitude doesn't seem fazed by Annie jumping down on her own. Is he too cool to care or did she just pass some kind of test?
Anyone else think Mr Donlan is a kickass teacher?
I'm going to go create a crop of that doorframe to use in image macros now. Needs to be done.

Bwahahaha, portable door! This is so much better than anything I would've guessed! On an awesomeness scale of 1 to 10, Donnie just went up to 11!

That was just so completely awkward how she juped down on her own and he was just standing there with his hand out. xD For me, the previous page was enough of an indication that he's "not a man of her circle". Still not sure about what affects this more, though. Donnys cheerful attitude doesn't seem fazed by Annie jumping down on her own. Is he too cool to care or did she just pass some kind of test? He became more (I love how a little tilt changes almost exactly the same expression), but perhaps there's "can't say it's surprising" side.

Oooh that kind of FZZAK!
Not sure if it's intentional but the geometry of that 'portable door' changes on each side. First panel we see the grey brick on the other side is smaller and there is an edge to it, but from the other side the red brick looks this way too! :S
EDIT: There may be a gap between them so this could be slightly exaggerated parallax, and I'm getting worked up over it (sorry Tom).

Stay in school kids, and maybe one day you too can be as cool as Donny Donlan. While the chapter is far from over, I agree that this is the moral of it.

Donny knows EXACTLY how to console Annie. Keep the pressure OFF her, be friendly but calm, give her things to do so she doesn't get too wrapped up in her misery. Also showing her kick-ass shit (but being cool about it). Donny is a damn cool dude.

But it does mean that the portable hole is smart enough to know that it needs to cross the gap. Clever! Or it just opens from his hand and to where he wants. Donny knows EXACTLY how to console Annie. Keep the pressure OFF her, be friendly but calm, give her things to do so she doesn't get too wrapped up in her misery. Also showing her kick-ass shit (but being cool about it). To me, it looks more like all these conspiratorial precautions are Donald's way to play "I'm on your side!", which he does simply because Annie treats him as a stranger and is upset. The whole show is quite likely to have no special meaning beyond this. The problem with this approach: Annie is not a small kid to be awed and excited just because older kids allowed her to play with them, and is likely to be irritated if she sees through this. Worse, she's well aware that Donald is one of the folk who still tries to withhold information, including vital (quite literally) from her. And in her mood (and with her knowledge) can be inclined to suspect she's about to be tricked into a deal she may or may not have accepted even if it was proposed honestly - or something else equally disturbing.
