I wonder if we'll get anything like... space docking going on in this chapter. Or rocket launches. Exciting Science! like that?

nothing at all actually gets revealed about the telephone conversation despite 25 pages revolving around it. What, but... how's that even possible? Unless Tom's some kind of, uh, comic magician? (He totally is.)

GC... in SPAAAAACE!!! Moon hijinks notwithstanding. Not that we should not expect that. All those rockets and "reach the stars" posters... As to what would be the satellite used for - becoming God, of course :3 Like I said: it's VALIS.

I've been reading this comic far too long to expect anything other than a devastatingly clever reinterpretation of the term "main focus" where nothing at all actually gets revealed about the telephone conversation despite 25 pages revolving around it. Yeah. Hypothesis: they update each other, you know, to keep in touch - and it will be an interesting, but unrelated to anything flashback of what Anthony did after Annie left to the Court and then "two years worth of exposition skipped..." - that certainly fits. E: And maybe the satellite is a robot. To be more precise, a comic relief character who will make snarky comments during the call. But the question remains: TicToc or golem? I can imagine either in this "man in the middle" role, after all, so Tom definitely can too. I wonder if we'll get anything like... space docking going on in this chapter. Or rocket launches. Exciting Science! like that? Orbital correction. By the way. Nice foreshadowing, eh? ;D Negotiating peace with the Enigmarons in exchange for arms. It's an arms for arms deal?

What, but... how's that even possible? Unless Tom's some kind of, uh, comic magician? (He totally is.) One possibility would be for the satellite in the title to be the real main character of the chapter - presumably it would be an artificial intelligence, and the chapter might focus around the satellite's perspective on Anthony's phone call to Annie and its attempts to comprehend humanity (including parent-child relationships) through the phone call. Kind of like the "Sky Watcher" chapter being from Sky Watcher's point of view.

Is that trough in the northern landmass the Annan? Good catch! The landmass itself kinda looks like the Emerald Isle (only not so emerald and perhaps too big, but whatevs). The view really shows how big the Annan is.

Yay, satellites in GC! OTOH, fairies from the previous chapter had Kepler's law on their blackboard, so this kind of development is kinda to be expected. Look at the "nose" of the satellite: it looks like a head of a robot. (overanalysis warning; but hey, it's Gunnerkrigg forums right?) I don't like that nose at all. More precisely, I don't like its position. A stable satellite with asymmetric mass distribution like this should have its head-tail axis poiting towards the center of Earth. A plane-like orientation doesn't usually make sense for general-purporse satellites. I wonder what does the Court use this one for.

Reading the title of this chapter i got reminded of an old, old series, "Moby Dick 5". I forgot all about it - maybe it's a very oblique homage...?
Nah.

I don't think it's a bad thing. However, I thought immediately of the early portions of this sequence: www.youtube.com/watch?v=U8Q3X5Gw5I4&feature=relatedI think it would be interesting if space (not necessarily the pictured satellite) is where Anthony has been hiding out. I wonder if there's any other analogous place out there. I have always assumed there were other places like the Forest and the Court on Earth. Later, I was given to believe that there existed such places on Luna, and therefore, perhaps, also the other solar system bodies. Also, probably, there are entirely alternate dimensions where the "powers" (such a Coyote) can go. I am just waiting for them to eventually be introduced.

Yay! My first chapter end/beginning! I discovered Gunnerkrigg Court only last Sunday, and the suspense is killing me. Is it always this apprehensive when a new chapter is about to start? I'm not sure that Antimony's father has anything to do with Microsat 5, because the last chapter ended abruptly, and I'm not so sure the beginning of Microsat 5 will show us the immediate aftermath. (<--Don't know if that made sense or not...) Oh well, we'll just have to wait and see!

MistyGlitter -- Yes, it is, especially when chapters end or begin on a Friday and "Monday is like a cookie jar on the top shelf and we're reaching for it!", as someone once put it (paraphrased). Friday updates tend to generate the most discussion and analysis because we're dying for our fix next week.

I had to branch out and get other webcomics to quell my thirst for GC in the weekend. It's THIS apprehensive.

It's a long period of waiting followed by about five minutes of excited staring at the newest page, whereupon you go back to waiting again. A vicious cycle.
