Could it be that calling her cruel when naming her caused here to become more cruel?

I wanted to tell Red not to expect too much awesomeness out of a job and clothes. But I guess to fairies - getting a job and buying clothes, is as exciting as going to the forest and doing magic would be for me?

I'm not sure whether to laugh at Blue's being shot down or rage at Red's arrogance. Maybe both?

The only thing better than hair going up? Having a name!
I wonder if it would be cheating for the other fairies to ask Annie to name them too.
(Also, first post, hi everyone /wave)

Could it be that calling her cruel when naming her caused here to become more cruel? Nah, this is completely consistent with what we know of her character. Speaking of her prior appearances: Remember the first time we saw her in human form, and how she was angry at Annie for tricking her into thinking that life at the Court would be fun? I expect she'll have a similar reaction to having a job.

Serves me right for trying to moralise about fairies... I am half tempted to wish that Anne would name them all just to spite Red...
Summary of fairy lore: No empathy whatsoever, arrogance, pettiness. Am I missing anything?

Wait, she doesn't have to come to class anymore? I'm guessing that's comical exaggeration on Red's part because otherwise I can't figure out why they don't just have the headmaster assign arbitrary names to each new fairy student and forego the whole school thing entirely.
Annie should just go through the whole room assigning names based on hair colour and/or animal type. Deerboy has a nice ring to it, and Fishface.

Probably the point is that name is a reward that each fairy gets with their graduation. They need the classes to integrate themselves into the human society, and only when they are ready will they be named, which gives them the permission to be self-reliant. Annie messed up the system, naming a fairy who hasn't yet gotten enough training to make out in the world on her own, so she'll probably be responsible for any misdemeanours that Red might get involved in. Hilarity ensues. ;D That's my guess, anyhow.

Red with a job? Inconceivable! Why? Big deal, City Face will get a super wonderful fairy colleague In the next office... Serves me right for trying to moralise about fairies... I am half tempted to wish that Anne would name them all just to spite Red... Now that would be a proper madhouse. Summary of fairy lore: No empathy whatsoever, arrogance, pettiness. Am I missing anything? Endless fun? ;D

This 'your name is what you are called' thing seems like it would be easy to abuse.
Also maybe only humans can name these Foreseters-turned-humans? Just a thought.

The faeries can't just name each other - that's cheating! They're not allowed to cheat. Also, I feel it requires a level of empathy that not even their own self-interest could summon for long enough to do anything about it.

I'm not sure whether to laugh at Blue's being shot down or rage at Red's arrogance. Maybe both? I think this is one of those cases of "they deserve each other." And I don't just mean Red and Blue. I mean all these retarded faeries. They're all jerks, but they all suffer from each other's jerkitude, so it works out. It's just that outsiders much approach at their own risk. This is probably the main reason the court keeps these bozos separate. It's not the MIB-style "oh regular people can't handle knowing aliens are around" line of logic. Instead, it's simply that nobody else really deserves to have to deal with their inane bullcrap.

Red with a job? Inconceivable! You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means. I disagree. Having a job (especially a well-paid one) is a big deal for humans either. But it isn't a "doing magic" kind of big deal for humans, is it?

It's always been interesting to guess how much the students of the Court know about what goes on there and the nature of things - not even in terms of the plot, but things like the seperate house.
