Kat is his diety. Nobody wants to bone Jesus. I went there for you. I am 99.99% sure there is porn contradicting that assertion about Jesus. However I refuse to go look. On the Wizards D&D forums just a couple hours ago I read about a were-crow who is in lust with the Raven Queen - that pantheon's death-goddess.

Guys. Guys, please. It doesn't matter if it's "platonic" or "bromance" or whatever. Hold back your shipping minds for a second in favor of something much more important:
Robot LOVES. Don't you get it? That is his first experience with this feeling. He has friends in the Court, and some manner of filial piety towards Annie, and there is his weird religious devotion to Kat, but this is the first time he realizes that he feels love. He's found out something crucial about himself, not only that he is capable of loving, but he DOES. Imagine that moment of realization. This is an amazing moment for Robot.

It's definitely a platonic bromance, wait ro-mance, no... robot-mance, bah, never mind! Robromance? Gunnerkrigg Court robots are more emotional than humans, so we should be anthropomorphizing quite a bit. Agreed. Robot functions as a fully rounded and integrated character here, not just a machine or an automaton-foil for the characters who matter. It seems - if not the Court robots in general - that Robot does have a greatly increased capacity to "love" over most robots. And while the sexual aspect is a part of 'romance' for humans, that doesn't mean romance cannot exist for non-sexual beings.[/quote] Just saying, sexual aspect isn't always a part of romance for humans, there are asexuals. I love the word Robromance, hilarious XD. I really hope shadow2 is ok. I think this is the most anxious I've been for updates, this whole storyline. If Annie had said "why didn't I realize it before? I love my good friend, Kat" none of us would be arguing that it was platonic Why should it be different for robots and shadows? Well, robots don't have any fiddly bits, from what we've seen so far, so their love is unambiguously platonic, regardless of its strength. With Annie and Kat (or any other pairing that includes two equally capable participants) the question can at least be realistically posed. It could be either or, you don't need 'fiddly bits' for non-platonic romance. Guys. Guys, please. It doesn't matter if it's "platonic" or "bromance" or whatever. I agree, it's awesome. *claps for Robot*. I can't wait till tomorrow to see what happens. (Pisst: Also, "I love my good friend Shadow" Could be taken in the romantic way I guess, but to me it screams platonic/Robromance. I think it's just brotherly love).

Do robots even have a gender? Do glass-eyed men have a gender? Haven't Robot loved before? (Kat, Jeanne)

It could be either or, you don't need 'fiddly bits' for non-platonic romance. Actually, yes. Without them, there's no sex, so it's platonic.

Do robots even have a gender? Do glass-eyed men have a gender? Haven't Robot loved before? (Kat, Jeanne) Yes, the glass-eyed men have genders (and sexes), and Shadow 2 is a male. Yes, Robot self-identifies as male. Tom said so.

I was more trying to warn off the 'shipping faction' I expected would descend (as well as, quite possibly, the occasional homophobic trolls who pop up here once in a blue moon) than anything else - not cause some huge argument. >.<

YES. EXACTLY. I'm quoting this because everyone should see it multiple times.

OK, officially? Weirdest. Ship. Ever. Now I'm conflicted though because as a lady I tend to find all bromance pretty much universally adorable, however as a person I think Robot is creepy as hell and Shadow has somehow been ingrained in my mind as a child. So having the creepy one say he loves the childish one has me going OGODWAT in a number of ways. If Annie had said "why didn't I realize it before? I love my good friend, Kat" none of us would be arguing that it was platonic Why should it be different for robots and shadows? I'm going for brobomance. Under the circumstances, i for some reason feel inclined to call the products of shippers' imagination "boxbomance". The only problem is that this was done literally in the next thread or so. That's the position I would personally take, but I would never actually share it on this forum because the discussion would inevitably become a clusterfrack that I wouldn't want to touch with a 40-foot pole. But of course. It's shipping. That's what torpedoes are for! (consider my avatar winking and trying to blip on the tune of Submarine under the alley).

Anyone else notice the potential parallels between Robot/Shadow 2 and Kat/Annie? Robot/Kat = science, Shadow 2/Annie = etheric. Shadow 2's history resembles Annie's; she was abandoned by her father, sent to the Court, befriended Kat who is the one person she can confide in and prevent her from being lonely. They're almost always together, just like Robot and Shadow, so Annie is like Kat's shadow or vice versa. Also, we know Annie doesn't want Kat to be lonely as well, because she told Kat to go mingle with the others back during the dryad saga. I don't know if it's deliberate or not, but the relationships have a number of similarities. I wouldn't be surprised if this causes Kat to reflect on her own relationship with Annie at some point. And here, there is this interesting facet of Shadow becoming independent of Robot (like Annie becoming independent of Kat over the last couple chapters?) but still coming back to be with Robot in the end because of their mutual love.

Anyone else notice the potential parallels between Robot/Shadow 2 and Kat/Annie? Good point, too. I also think by now, these two counts as sort-of-"adopted" by Annie and Kat respectively. ;D
