I think I just about died laughing at the older versions of Willie and Janet on this page. His eyebrow! Her pose!
I love this chapter.

Maybe they're telling a over the top story so that everyone will call them out on it, and they can then proceed to tell the real story, which, while still over the top, seems far more plausible. exactly what i thought. or i thought that maybe they're doing this to convince everyone they're not a couple by taking the mick...

Come on. This is TOTALLY plausible. I mean think about, nearly all year 7 students are secretly underground racers. They don't care that they don't have a license. It's all about the SOUL.

For all we know, they could take turns telling the story. Winsbury starts out telling it like, well, that while Janet (given her Shakespearean predilictions) tells it like some overwrought romance (or something).

Her hair clashes with the dress, but oh, well. I don't care! Dames always wear red, and are always called dames because this is the genre of dames and fools. (maybe a slightly different genre than this one, but close.)

This is completely implausible. No one looked that good in year seven!

Haven't quite seen that coming. If you believe that, i have a bridge i'd like to sell you. It's in Brooklyn, but i also have bridges in San Fransisco, New Orleans, and London. I'll take two! Can I have some fries with that, please?

Heh, how many times is Tom likely to get the chance to draw cool cars within the confines of a Gunnerkrigg Court strip? Well played, Tom. He got to earlier in the chapter. So, so not the same style of thing.
