Not sure whats with the accent behind the words, or is that suppoused to be old english?

Probably.
ETA: Or more likely, the dialect of English where the song originated from. Old English is actually pretty different from Modern English. Middle English is somewhat more decipherable.

We're gonna need someone to translate that into modern english for us foreign people. Meh, I don't like this thread title, but nothing really stood out as a good quote for me, you know? How about "Are you not a boy?" ;D

This is the song. And the tune.Google to the rescue! Also this is an unbearably dorky thing for a group of teenagers to do. Gunnerkids are like honours class geeks turned up to eleven, aren't they?

Actually, in reading it, it looks like the scottish accent as I've seen it written in the book Kidnapped. max, yea you're right. Edit: Ha! I was on the mark with the scottish accent.

No wonder the accent seemed familiar from the book I mentioned.

Anyways, I wonder if maybe John is Scottish or is a fan of those songs. Then again, he's pretty much fallen into the minstrel/bard role here.

Funny, someone mentioned the "no true Scotsman" thing Friday. The words are by Bobby Burns, a true Scotsman if ever there was one, I should think.

Also, Paz and Matt seem to have reconciled. Well, at least Paz has calmed down enough to be able to sit next to him without starting to steam. Also, if they go on like this Willie and Janet aren't going to be able to keep their act up for long.

Sing-a-long time!!!Meh, I don't like this thread title, but nothing really stood out as a good quote for me, you know? In a comic with a whole song lyric, and Janet asking Willie if he's a boy, the most memorable quote that stood out to you was "You got it"? The idea of thread titles should be that it will be something people will remember corresponded to *this* comic. Just quote the song. Or Janet's "Sing the boy's part". Or Janet's "Are you not a boy?". Or frigging hell, even Willie's "Sometimes I forget, all right?" Just pick *anything* but "You got it", which was the most boring sentence in this comic.

Wait a second... what are they drinking?! Yeah, for a moment there I thought those glasses looked tiny enough for hard liquor, but judging from the bottle and assuming Bud is not completely irresponsible it's probably some sort of coke. Not I have a small doubt to willie not being short for wilma, or am I just being stupid? He has been referred to as "William" multiple times in the comic, for example when he was first introduced. There should be pretty little doubt that he really is a "he".

Is it sad that after seeing this I suddenly had the urge to throw a mandolin party? [Also, if they go on like this Willie and Janet aren't going to be able to keep their act up for long. The more I see them interact, the more I think that people (or at least their friends) actually know about their "secret" and are just humoring them.

They probably just found some glasses with a suitable size in the bar. To me they look a bit like that kind of whiskey glasses where you just fill the bottom of it.

I grew up in Scotland and every year all the way through school we had to memorise and recite poetry by Robert Burns, yet I had never heard of the one they are singing in today's comic.
Gunnerkirgg Court continues to further my cultural education!

William may be used to sing along Janet. Or follow her lead when she get a fun idea in general (she seems to be "the quirky one" of the pair). After all, when he upsets her, someone's elbow finds a collision course with his stomach. ;D I sense the upcoming story will be quite interesting. What story? William implies she leads this dance... which is kind of obvious anyway. He mostly joked this away in a manner still slightly less awkward than admitting how much her presence distracts him. And infinitely less awkward than hinting in any way that they two already sang this together, for that matter. This is the song. And the tune.Google to the rescue! Also this is an unbearably dorky thing for a group of teenagers to do. Gunnerkids are like honours class geeks turned up to eleven, aren't they? " Romantic dorks"(c). Reading the lyrics... heh... this doesn't even count as "innuendo". Anyways, I wonder if maybe John is Scottish or is a fan of those songs. Then again, he's pretty much fallen into the minstrel/bard role here. Hmm, this still may be Janet's idea. She seems to be both quirky and decisive. Yeah, for a moment there I thought those glasses looked tiny enough for hard liquor, but judging from the bottle and assuming Bud is not completely irresponsible it's probably some sort of coke. It would be completely irresponsible to allow the Court's students to buy and drink those acidic paint-removers when they have access to lots of top biology and chemistry labs. If kids are going to drink diluted extracts anyway, they may as well make fresh ones themselves. The more I see them interact, the more I think that people (or at least their friends) actually know about their "secret" and are just humoring them. Margo in Power Station was surprised they don't fight, unlikely to be sarcastic. But yeah, if they're like this all the time, anyone who pays attention could eventually figure out.

Wait a second... what are they drinking?! Looks like cocoa-cola or some other non-alcoholic soda. They probably grabbed some soda from behind the bar along with the glasses, with Bud making sure they didn't 'accidentially' grab and drink liquor.

That he is male doesn't mean he's a boy does it? I mean as in "human boy". What if he's actually a fish? His hair goes kinda up, doesn't it? Not counting for that possibility, william does seem to be doing it for laughs. Look at panel 5, doesn't he seem to be teasing?

Just here to say what I've thought all along: Janet and Willie would make the most excellent power couple. Ruling the school but without stupid pettiness. Just call 'em Queen of Everything and Co-Emperorpants.

It's nice that John is both a guitar and mandolin player by the way, the two instruments are quite different in practice.

Yeah, it looks like coke, but if they keep this up I'm going to start questioning why they're acting so vashnigyered. Then again, I've got friends who get high on the lethal combination of late nights and lime tortilla chips, so I'm guessing the craziness comes from sneaking out and staying up so late.
