Honestly, it seems like Tom needs to work on his perspectives somewhat, or maybe he is experimenting around with perspective. I would assume he's just messing about for compositional reasons and didn't completely lose track of his visualization of the room.

I wasn't confused. Imagine the "camera man" ran around to the perpendicular side of the table.

They're all dressed up! Except for Kat. Kat is dressed like a ninja. And Annie and Jack are going to miss the story...

Note how Paz seems to prefer to sit on the armrest of Matt's comfy chair, rather than taking the vacant one right next to it. Note how uncomfortable Matt seems to be, leaning away from her, haha. Though that might be just my imagination. Aw! You compelled me to go look again, and yes! He does seem to be leaning and looking away in an uncomfortable and/or embarrassed manner. I get the feeling that it's because otherwise Paz's chest would be right at his eye level. Or perhaps she's flirting with him farther than he's dared himself to with her.

Anyone else find it kinda weird that Annie appears to be willing to talk to Jack about what happened? I mean, I know she's more open now, but that still seems rather personal.

Paz's outfit. My god. Isn't it the cutest thing? That just fits so perfectly with your gushing Kat avatar. Anyone else find it kinda weird that Annie appears to be willing to talk to Jack about what happened? I mean, I know she's more open now, but that still seems rather personal. Well, hey, she tooled around in the dude's mind with two other girls. A bit difficult to get more personal than that.

And for bud to slide his bucket from one end of the table to the other. Bud is actually a Guild Steersman on loan to the Court. He can bend space at will.

Well, she really does seem more open now, but we haven't really seen her in interaction with anybody but Kat since then, whom she always trusted. We'll see if she actually tells him the whole story. I'd suppose she'll leave out a few of the more juicy details.

sure it can I just clicked the x on top of the window They're all dressed up! Except for Kat. Kat is dressed like a ninja. I noticed that too. Why has not Kat taken her coat of yet. or does she have an unhealthy obsesion with black that she is wearing a black dress. grr the lack of details once zoomed out.

Though that might be just my imagination. That's a nice little detail that I completely missed the first time I read the page! I wonder if he is just shy and embarrassed, or maybe Paz fancies him and he is not interested? I love how Tom gives the background characters their own lives and relationships outside of their interactions with Annie and Kat, but doesn't necessarily shove it in your face. Makes the story and characters that little bit more rich!

Heh, I think both me and fish are probably seeing things that aren't there, actually. Paz and Matt may just be friends, as classmates often are. She may just be sitting there since it's closer to the center of attention than the other chair. Matt may only seem to shunning away from her because he, too, is leaning towards where the story is. But that would be a perfectly reasonable explanation and hence is boring. ;D

Note how Paz seems to prefer to sit on the armrest of Matt's comfy chair, rather than taking the vacant one right next to it. Panels 4-5: now with Possessive Propping Pose. I love Tom's little comment at the bottom. Some... readers of overly sensitive sort were horribly horrified by Annie cheating off Kats homework and i forgot what else, but on similar scale (that students somehow managed to visit the roof without being accompanied by a helicopter or something). I'm badly tempted to start bets on whether this will become a running gag like "That's Mr. Eglamore here", but know that Tom can draw even a coin toss in such a way that no one's guess will be exactly correct. Yeah... no. Using Bud as a focal point, it's just awkwardly drawn perspective unless Bud moved over, too. But then we have the kids on the other side of the table, and that pretty much fries my brain in trying to figure out everyone's position. For now, let's assume that it's a result of Bud's spatial manipulation? Note how uncomfortable Matt seems to be, leaning away from her, haha. Though that might be just my imagination. Alternatively, he sprawls in the way allowing a good view of her without turning. They're all dressed up! Except for Kat. Kat is dressed like a ninja. I noticed that too. Why has not Kat taken her coat of yet. She was seen wearing black under that coat.

Some... readers of overly sensitive sort were horribly horrified by Annie cheating off Kats homework . There's a distinction between finding it objectionable and "horribly horrified," just like there's a distinction between "it's just cheating, it's not that bad" and "cheating is perfectly okay!" I'm a teacher. Some other posters here have mentioned they were as well. Of course I'd find it objectionable. But saying that an objection to the action immediately equals "horribly horrified" hysterics is just disingenuous.

"Tell us the story of the mandolin!" "Sure." Come and listen to a story about a man named Jed A poor mountaineer, barely kept his family fed, Then one day he was shootin at some food, And up through the ground came a bubblin crude... That's the kind of thing I think I would hear in a country song.

Heh, I think both me and fish are probably seeing things that aren't there, actually. I agree! Analyzing Tom's background detail is a lot of fun though, and most of the time it's not random but does have some meaning behind it. Let's see how things will develop.

Gaaahh! Now that the kinda-wonky perspective was pointed out, I can't unsee it. Damn you, forum! Hope we'll still get to catch some of Annie and Jack's conversation. Now don't boo me all at once, but I'd much rather hear those two discuss all of their summer activities than hear about a haunted mandolin, zany though it may be. Luckily this page also brings us another classic Tom Post-Script (tm)

Hope we'll still get to catch some of Annie and Jack's conversation. Of course, there are... different ways to tell the same, but still.

Or the characters moved... Indeed I am wondering why people do not seem to be receptive to this explanation. There is yet another alternative: this comic has already shown us that artistic perspective is subject to change to reflect characters' emotions. On this page, the characters shifted emotionally closer because they have become interested in the story. There could have been no actual moving, just the change of characters' involvement in conversation.
