Well, she's been pouring over Diego's notes for several days now... and not getting anywhere... but she might be recognizing patterns in the cube that help her understand Diego's notes.
Kind of like how you guys recognized the chapter page pattern on the close up of the heart.

So her power is pattern recognition turned up to eleven. That will be fun when she stumbles upon some conspiracy theory.

Do the words "magic" and "fictional" mean anything to you guys? You mean, the writer have to be careful in order to avoid slipping into plain ass-pull? How can Kat know a language she hasn't encountered before? is it similar to other languages? Unless it vanished tracelessly, maybe at least general principles survived. Being exposed to programming code won't make her instantly pick up an unknown language. True, but maybe she can pick up structures without understanding details. There was a web of lines or something. E.g. we have a text on something vaguely c/pascal/python -like using an unknown alphabet. It's not clear at all, but seeing the code with proper indents and being able to track suspected identifiers, one may get a general idea of how the program is organized. Or even wild-guess a common algorythm - with some luck, that is. So her power is pattern recognition turned up to eleven. That will be fun when she stumbles upon some conspiracy theory. Well, she sorta already stumbled upon some conspiracy practice, so...

It's aaaall about maintaining suspension of disbelief. It doesn't have to be accurate or truthful. Just believable. Of course, when people have in-depth knowledge and strong feelings about something, maintaining said suspension can get tricky.

... Not to mention Kat starts to put something together IMMEDIATELY. You'd expect she'd have to at least think over it all first. Well, what she put together was just a motorized mount to allow her to reposition the cube with greater precision while she read it. It was done with great flair, of course. :) No no.. It looks like she starts messing with other stuff as well. She's already working on some kind of result, and she only just looked at the cube for a moment. Today's page even backs me up. She already has something going, and it took no time at all.

Yesterday's panel shows that she rigged up a viewing platform, with a gang of LEDs to illuminate it. You can call taking notes and getting ideas "some kind of result", and I'll back you up on it. :)

Anyways, the chapters title of Give and Take doesn't seem to have applied to anything yet, unless its a general thing like giving the cube and taking the knowledge from it. Having now read the last page ( 889), I think the give and take is probably on the part of the robots. The robots gave one of their ancestors up, not knowing about its return at all...and in return, they may now be getting their entire ancestry back. I think they certainly had the highest risk/reward factor here.
