Is that just really big and mysterious raven, or Raven that is some kind of Forest creature?! Also: Raven has any eyes, has he? Or it just stylistic, like Anja's eyes?..

city face kicks ass, it starts off surreal and then ends so anti-climaticly that it's amazing.
Good one Tom!

Aww, now I'm kinda sad it's over already. But it will still be super-sweet to go back to the normal storyline again. Also, not sure why I made these, but here:

I agree that is a brilliant ending. It's funny because it's anti-climactic (my god I sound like the guy that explains jokes in family guy.) I'm surprised raven hasn't had a role in real GKC yet though, in English and Scottish (Scottish more) folklore Ravens and Crows have long been symbolic representations of Death and Magic (Death is a left-over bit of superstition from when it used to be a Druidic animal spirit, Magic is a later one because the church intentionally turned all things that were sacred in "heathen" religions into representations of demons, the devil and witchcraft) p.s. I has a feeling that it's stylistic. also I'm gawn steal that Raven avatar.

And the two human business men danced..... Nevermore. Speaking of which, does anyone know the business-related activity that the karate chop dance is aping? When I look at it my spider-sense tingles and tells me there is a joke there that I am not getting. The only thing I can think of is quick-marching during morning commute and at lunch hour. Nonetheless, I can not wait until Monday!! So excited for more Gunnerkrigg. Monday = new chapter title page! Hopefully we'll get a panoramic view of a Wood community on Wednesday. In closing re: City Face 2... Perhaps I am alone in this but I think the City Faeries are not crazy. They've got comedic gaps in their knowledge and they are mistaken in thinking that if the birds replicate the human behaviors that the humans will acknowledge them. Much of that crazy business-behavior that the faeries have observed is rooted in things that they should well understand: posturing and displays of dominance. Having a blackberry is a symbol of status (less so than it used to be but still). Now, if Torus had taught City Face to pick winning stocks from the newspaper...

Man, they totally left it open for City Face 3 -- I can't wait until next summer!!!!! I wonder if they will shoot it in 3D? I'm not even sure if that would be a good thing or a bad thing...

And with that--whatever it was--the epic secondary journey of City Face--whatever that was--comes to a close. Hilariously!
We now return to our regularly scheduled canonical non-nonsense paired with non-canonical nonsense, instead of the other way around. Whatever that means.

Perhaps I am alone in this but I think the City Faeries are not crazy. They've got comedic gaps in their knowledge and they are mistaken in thinking that if the birds replicate the human behaviors that the humans will acknowledge them. It seems that they observe human behaviour, reinterpret and recontextualize it, then go about applying their "knowledge" in an enthusiastic manner. This might be crazy by some definitions. Sort of confusing that the big bird is identified as a crow in the comments, since ravens and rooks are big and black while crows are greyish and not that big.

It seems that they observe human behavior, reinterpret and recontextualize it, then go about applying their "knowledge" in an enthusiastic manner. This might be crazy by some definitions. I can agree with that in the same sense that a fan is a fanatic, but crazy fans usually get something out of their fandom that may not be easily apparent to an outsider. Say for example that there is a pre-teen who is a groupie of a particular teen idol singer. A person who dislikes said idol's singing and lack of musical instrumentality might call the pre-teen crazy for liking him or her and wonder why he or she wastes so much time and money going to all those concerts, having all their friends over for album debut parties, buying posters and shirts that advertise their fandom to other people, etc. Perhaps the faeries are crazy human fans but I strongly suspect they get something out of their behavior. If nothing else, maybe they enjoy jerking pigeons and magpies around. If one chooses to interpret their actions in the best possible light, one could argue that they made the birds completely forget about the dispute over the bagel. But if the faeries are using reason to apply their observations, they're not crazy in the formal sense of the word. They're just wrong in a way that looks crazy to others. It is easy to appear crazy when dealing with differences across cultures. For example #2 say you are a businessman who goes to a foreign country on business. You are not familiar with the currency they use there, so you toss larger denomination bills as tips when you have them and argue over change when you don't, and negotiate hard with the local business people over marginal differences in piece-work or tiny differences in per-unit prices because that's your job and why you went there. To the casual observer in that culture you would appear completely nutty; one moment you are throwing money away like it is nothing and then the next you are trying to bully people for small change.

Crows and ravens are names given to various species of birds of the genus "corvus", there isn't a specific differences between "crows" on one side and "ravens" on the other. "Crow" is in fact often synonymous with the entire genus, and thus ravens but also rooks and jackdaws, can be considered a kind of crow. There are 42 such different species.
This is similar to how, in the tribe canini, some species are call dogs (appart from domestic dogs), some are called wolves , some are called jackals and some are called foxes, without a clear cut between what constitutes one or the other (and in fact the "foxes" of this tribe are not even true foxes, which are found in a different tribe, the vulpini).
(Phylogenetics is fun kids! Read about it on wikipedia!)

On this page there is only one fairy. Were Ogee and Torus the same person the entire time? I've never seen them both in the same panel. What's up with that?

This was actually quite similar to how the Odyssey ends.
Odysseus' family and suitors' families: <fighting> Athena: Stop it. Stop all this nonsense. Odysseus' family and suitor's families: <at peace>
